Volunteer(s) Needed
Do you enjoy seeing the Luminaria that provides a beautiful presence wrapped around our church campus each Christmas Eve? Each year our middle schoolers prepare the 200+ candles for display. We need someone to place and light the luminaria around the church on Christmas eve this year around 4:00 p.m., and then clean up the bags on Christmas day. Are you looking for a way to serve this Christmas?  Please contact the Church Office if you are willing to take on this mini-mission at First Pres, [email protected].
Lost and Found Table
Missing a coat or jacket, hat, glove, glasses, dishes or other things? Check out our Lost and Found table down stairs by the Ministry Center. All items not claimed will be donated for Christmas Sharing.
Fearless Generosity

We have received 1 99 giving commitments for $ 774,701 , which is a good start. We have not yet heard from over 50 % of our membership. Having each member's participation is essential for planning ministry and mission at First Pres in 2018. If you have not yet completed a card please consider doing so.
If you would like a card sent to you, please contact the church office at (630) 668-5147.
Giving cards are also at the welcome desk, in the pews and online.
"Whisk" Seniors a Happy Holiday
Every year, First Pres partners with Outreach Community Center and Gary Methodist Church to host a Christmas luncheon for the Older Adults Program at Outreach Community Center.  This year's luncheon will be held on Friday, December 15.  First  Pres volunteers provide and serve lunch, as well as make financial donations to make the day possible.  For most of these seniors, this annual event is the highlight of their holiday season. A $12 donation will provide one older adult a place at the annual Christmas Luncheon table.

Donation envelopes are available in the Rotunda.  Checks should be made payable to Outreach Community Ministries and can be dropped in the mail or left in the church office.

Thank you for helping to provide our seniors with a happy holiday season.  If you have any questions or would like to volunteer that day, please contact Kim Van Oss (630-609-6956) or Alice Lechiara (630-462-0536).

Men's Ministry
First Light Collaborative
On Saturday, 12/9, we start a 4 week study - Christmas: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly: An Advent Study for Adults by Richard B. Wilke
In this four-week Advent study, the author focuses on people in the story of Christ's birth. There are those we associate with the joy and celebration of Christmas-the wise men, the shepherds, and Joseph. Yet the author reminds us not to forget that the evil King Herod is also part of the Christmas story, and how it is because there is evil in our world that we so desperately needed-and  need -a Savior. Each lesson includes a key scripture, brief reflection, questions to discuss, a suggested Christmas carol, and a prayer.
Breakfast starts at 7:00 a.m. next to the kitchen.
Contact [email protected] to be sure we have enough bacon for all.
