Art Students Well-Equipped for Photo Shoot
On Wednesday, September 20, 51 LFHS Photo students visited Chicago to photograph the Loop, Millennium Park and the Riverwalk!

For the first time ever (40 Photo field trips!), all students were provided with digital cameras through a generous LFHS Foundation grant.  They enjoyed the immediate feedback the camera displays provide as well as the flexibility in lenses and the broad range of shutter speeds the Canon t6 model offers.  Students were also able to benefit from one-on-one coaching from their teacher.

LFHS Senior AP Art student Micki McMahon displayed her artwork - including paintings, tables and skateboards at the recent Annual Art Fair on the Square in Lake Forest over the Labor Day weekend. She is pictured with LFHS Art Teacher and Judge of the Artisan Guild Art Show Wendy Antrim.

The Memory Project is a nonprofit organization that invites art teachers and their students to create portraits for youth around the world who have faced substantial challenges, such as neglect, abuse, loss of parents, and extreme poverty.

The Spring 2017 Drawing and Painting class received photographic portraits of children from Tanzania.
View the video of how the children in Tanzania reacted to the portrait - drawings and paintings they received from the LFHS Drawing & Painting students.  Watch Video!

Thank You for "Investing in Educational Excellence" at LFHS

Welcome back for the 2017-2018 school year! Thank you to the 345 families who generously contributed to the Lake Forest High School Foundation during online enrollment. We appreciate your support!

We hope you were able to see the significant and lasting impact the Foundation has made at LFHS during the Fall Open House. From the Business Incubator to "The Forest Scout" magazine to world-class equipment and materials across every department, the Foundation has invested in enhancing your child's educational experience. You can still make a tax-deductible donation online at www.lfhsfoundation.org as part of our back-to-school campaign. Please join us in making an impact at LFHS!

Grants in Action
One of our grants last spring was purchasing additional high-speed, digital SLR cameras for the Art department to help them keep up with the growing popularity of photography classes. This past week,  Art teacher Carolyn Bielski took a large group of students into Chicago with their cameras, and here is what she shared...

"On behalf of the LFHS Art Department, we would like to say a HUGE "thank you" to the Foundation for our digital SLR camera grant!  Today we spent the day downtown photographing the Loop, Millennium Park and the Riverwalk.  We had 51 young photographers and for the first time ever (this is my 40th field trip), we were able to supply ALL OF THEM with digital cameras!"

Join the Board
We still have a few open positions available on the Board of Trustees - Webmaster, Social Media Manager, and a third Spring Luncheon Chair. Please email lfhsfoundation@gmail.com for more information on how to get involved.

Save the Date
Our signature fundraising event, the "Planting a Foundation for Education" Luncheon and Silent Auction, is scheduled for April 18, 2018 at Exmoor Country Club. Please plan on joining us!
