If I could travel anywhere in the world, I would go to Paris, France.

Dear Parents,
Today, let us take a moment to celebrate the Feast of the Archangels:
Saint Michael is our protector
Saint Gabriel is a messenger of Good News
Saint Raphael is the healing angel
Help us O Lord to realize more fully the reality of the
Archangels and their desire to serve us!
It is with great sadness that I inform you that Mrs. Phillips's (our 6
th
grade teacher) mother was taken to the Lord suddenly this past week. Please keep Mrs. Phillips and her family in your prayers at this difficult time.
Thanks to all parents that came out to enjoy the Lobster Bake! The timing and company was just right to take in the last moments of the summer and warm weather! Our routine at St. A's is back on track with good spirit and a calendar of events that makes our families smile and get excited to journey together spiritually, academically, and with celebration!
On that note, we want to share with you our new S.L.A.M. (Student, Leadership And Mentoring) program. The participants are from 6
th
, 7
th
and 8
th
grade and have committed to promoting and servicing our community through a written application and follow up interview. This includes helping with sports after school, morning announcements, submitting articles to the newsletter, walking buddies in the a.m., peer and new student mentoring, tour guides for our Open Houses, etc. Training will begin next week and will include valuable lessons in leadership, engaging with guest speakers and their leadership experiences!
In addition, I want to welcome Tina and Jonathan Bowman, and their daughter Sophie (Kindergarten), from Darien, to the St. Aloysius family!
As a reminder, winter uniforms begin on October 2
nd
. Please review the handbook for further information. Also, please let family and friends know that our Open House for the school year 2017-2018 is scheduled for October 15
th
at 11:00 am. Parent to parent is our best form of advertising!

Story of St. Christopher Honored
in First Grade
St. Christopher carries Baby Jesus across the water in this year's Eric Carle project by the First Grade.
The scene, from a book by Tomi de Paola, required three separate pieces to be "painted" by the First Graders: the water, St. Christopher, and Jesus, as an infant.
With Mrs. Manfredi, Mrs. Dodd, and Mrs. Eisenreich leading our class, the colorful and messy creation was complete in a quick 30 minutes. St. Christopher will watch over our class throughout the school year.
Grades 6-8:
Message from Mrs. Nisco:
Please join me in welcoming our 2017-2018 SLAM participants! These 6,7 and 8 grade students are highly motivated and provided insightful and thoughtful responses both in their written application and follow-up interview.
Once again, if you have a program or event that you would like SLAM to help you with, please email me directly and offer specific needs.
SLAM will help with sports after school, putting up posters, making morning announcements, submitting articles to the newsletter, walking buddies in the am, peer mentoring (once trained), tour guides, and mentors to new students. Once we meet, I am sure the group will generate more ideas to give back to our school. They are all very excited!
Training will begin next week after school which will include valuable lessons in leadership as well as engaging with guest speakers who will come in to speak with the group about his/her leadership experiences.
Thank you for all of your support as this program gets off the ground!

PUMPKIN DONATIONS NEEDED!
The HSA invites you to a fun upcoming family event coming up at our parish, St. Aloysius Church- outside Stapleton Hall. The fest will start at 6:30pm immediately after the 5:30pm mass. Wear your school sweatshirt and show your school/parish homecoming spirit. There will also be a special visit from our school mascot, pie contest, pumpkin decorating, live music, great food and so much more.
During this family event, the HSA Board would like to support the church's effort by coordinating a pumpkin decorating table for the children.

The Cross Country club kicked off the Fall season with two meets this week.
First, the NC Blazers Invitational was at Waveny Park
on Wednesday
where three of our runners came away with ribbons: Clay Manley and Riley Stenger, first place each in the boys and girls 8th grade division; and Daniel Vetti came in 2nd among 8th grade boys.
Then
on Thursday
the Bulldogs met the Fairchester League at Ridgefield Academy. All runners did outstanding on a hilly and challenging course. Results from the Fairchester races are cumulative over the next several weeks.
Our Lady Bulldog volleyball players won their season opener against St. Luke's in straight sets - 25-9, 25-7! Lots of consistent serving by several girls on
our team allowed for the win. Come out and watch us play in our next home match on
Thursday, October 5th
