Grandparents Day
To begin the day, our grandparents were treated to a wonderful flag salute presentation by Ms. Falt's 2nd grade class. Immediately following the flag salute, the children and their grandparents enjoyed a delicious breakfast, during which, The Beat, our on-campus rock band, filled the air with wonderful music.

As breakfast concluded, students were encouraged to take their grandparents on a tour of the campus, complete with a treasure hunt for stickers, and a chocolate gold coin prize at the end. What a fun morning! It was so wonderful to see so many grandparents enjoying time with their grandchildren on this day!

There will be informational meetings on Tuesday, October 3, at 5:00 pm for parents of those students attending the 7th grade Florida and 8th grade Washington, D.C. trips. The 7th grade meeting will be in Mr. Ickes' classroom, and the 8th grade meeting will be held in Mrs. Paraiso's classroom. Both rooms are located off of the library.

Short Friday and Spirit Day
Friday, October 6, is Superhero Spirit Day. All students are released at 12:00 pm, and please remember that the parent pick up lines will be long! Please be patient with our students, teachers, and staff members on this day, as it is a high-stress time for everyone. It is advisable to wait until 12:20 pm to get into line, as there should be a short wait at that time. Please note that there is no early pick-up for our junior kindergarten through 2nd grade students. Parent pick-up for all grades begins at 12:00 pm and runs until 12:30 pm. Additionally, any student who will be going home with a friend or somebody not on the student's emergency card will need to have a note or phone call to the front office authorizing this additional person to pick up the student.

October Is Socktober
Once again, our National Junior Honor Society is participating in Socktober. In celebration of Socktober, students may wear any of the fun We Help Two socks during the month of October in place of their regular uniform socks. For every 80 sock packs sold, We Help Two will provide a leg to an amputee through its partner clinics around the world! In addition, for each pack of socks sold, We Help Two will donate a pair of socks to Caterina's Club, where they will be distributed to motel children living in Anaheim, California.

Thank you to all of those who contributed to last year's campaign; Fairmont was able to provide three legs to amputees in Mexico, Ethiopia, and Liberia. This year, please take a moment to help us play a small part in giving hope to homeless children and amputees around the world. Together we can make a difference, one step at a time.

To order, please visit our We Help Two page

The Socktober campaign ends October 7.

Junior High Shadow Days at Fairmont Prep
In order for your child to better understand what an average day is like at Fairmont Prep, we encourage you to schedule a Shadow Day for him or her. Accompanied by one of Fairmont Prep's outstanding student ambassadors, your student will sit in on classes in his or her area of interest and spend time with peers to hear about day-to-day life at Fairmont Prep. Transportation to and from the junior high campus will be provided, and lunch will also be provided. Permission slips must be turned in to your campus assistant director at least four days before the scheduled Shadow Day, and your student will need to wear his or her regular required uniform on this day. We have various Shadow Day options throughout October and early November. You can access more information by downloading our informational flyer, which includes the required permission slip, and you may  register online.

Husky Highlight
Students Cheer at Race for the Cure!
Fifty amazing Fairmont Prep students joined Mrs. Kunkle Sunday, September 24, at 5:00 am to cheer on 15,000+ walkers for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. It was a beautiful sea of pink for the Avocado location cheer zone. The runners/walkers were so excited to see the students and share their enthusiasm. Between the high-fives, bubbles, and motivational cheering to not give up and continue the fight, the walkers made it across the finish line. Great job to the Fairmont Prep Huskies for taking the time to "Paws for a Cause!"
