This is our first "normal" week of school.  Our entire staff was thrilled to get into a pattern.  Such amazing successes all around.  Language Arts teachers monitoring and helping kids select "Good Fit Books", wonderful rocks coming for the front porch, PE kicked off with rugby and two coaches from ORSU and West Linn High School helping TRCS students to learn to play, homework starting, and 8th graders beginning their work in Humanities.  Life is good - very, very good.

Calendar Update
We missed allowing enough time for our teachers to have for conferences.  October 12th is a no school day and was corrected with the calendars we included in Back to School Packets and here!! Click here.

Chalk.com
Beginning next week, each parent will receive an email from Chalk.com with an invite to create an account. This is our new grade storage and communication system. Please refer to the instructions we gave out in your Back to School Night packet or learn more here. 
Fall Conferences 
Just another reminder that we are completing our fall conferences with our returning families on October 11th & 12th. Thank you to all parents that used the SignUp Genius link to sign up! The sign ups are now locked while teachers are assigned to the times. Please contact the office if you have any issues with your conference time. 
Battle of the Books
We sure are excited for another year of Oregon Battle of the Books (OBOB). If your student is interested in participating, encourage them to ask some classmates to form a team! If they need assistance, have them stop by the office. We hope we get a lot of teams to battle this year - it's great fun! Learn more.
 
New Website
We are also excited to announce that we have a new, improved website on the way! We will be launching it in the next week and it is going to be fabulous and user friendly, as well as have many useful tools for busy parents. Keep watching for the announcement that it is live! 
   
Lunch Program 
On Tuesday, October 3rd, we will be launching our first lunch provided by Fresh n' Local! While we had a great turnout, we didn't quite meet the 30 meal requirement for each date. Please know that we want to offer this program to parents, but it will only work if you participate! They are wiling to work with us for this first month, but we need to have more families participate in order to keep offering meals from Fresh n' Local. 

Online Book Fair 
Beginning October 9th, we will be hosting our first online book fair with Children's Bookstore. Parents, grandparents, friends and neighbors will be able to log into our specific fundraising website with Children's Bookstore and order books to be delivered to them! They have over 200,000 books to choose from. TRCS will earn 30% profit from every sale. Be watching for the link to order!  
Scrip for ODS!
This year, we are using Scrip as a fundraiser for Outdoor School fees. The percentage of money earned from all of your orders will be "banked" and that amount will be deducted from your ODS fees. You have the option of ordering Scrip each week - simply turn in your payment and order form to the office each week by Tuesday at 10:00 am and we will send your purchases home with you at the end of the same week! Learn more.
