Each October, the general meeting of the Charlotte Writers' Club is devoted to the formation of critique groups.

Maybe you need help! Maybe joining a critique group is just the thing that'll get you going - and keep you going - with the encouragement of some writers who share your passion.
Typically, these groups meet on a regular basis to review each other's work and offer feedback and a little esprit. If you're interested in getting involved, then you
must come to our October 17 meeting.
Susan Mills Wilson, pictured here
(smaller than actual size), will be there to guide you. This is your opportunity to connect with other writers in your specific genre for advice and support. The meeting will be on the second floor. Take the elevator and follow the noise. DDC

Storytelling, Creativity and Life
A Nonfiction Workshop, with award-winning journalist Tommy Tomlinson.
Saturday, Oct. 21st,

Tomlinson will help you get to the core of telling stories by unlocking the creativity inside, "and maybe," he adds, "along the way, help you become a better person."
Tomlinson's latest project is a memoir,
The Elephant in the Room, about being an overweight man in America. He spent 23 years as a reporter, a local columnist, and was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in commentary.

CHARLOTTE WRITERS' CLUB NORTH
|
There are still spots open for "Beyond Brushes and Pens," a poetry workshop connecting art and writing, hosted by Charlotte Writers' Club North, in cooperation with Mooresville Arts on Saturday, October 7, 2017. Led by poet Terri Wolfe, the workshop will be held at Mooresville Arts Gallery, 103 W. Center Avenue from 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

CWC Workshop page. Cost is $35 for CWC members and $45 for non-members. The workshop fee includes a $5 donation to Mooresville Arts, a non-profit. Let us know you are planning to participate by Thursday, October 5th. You can pay online, send CWC a check to P.O. Box 220954, Charlotte NC 28222, or bring your payment to the workshop.
Wolfe holds a BA from UNC Charlotte and an MFA in Poetry from Queens University of Charlotte. Co-author of
Riding Out: Poems of Grief and Redemption (Mayflower 2008), Wolfe has had poems in numerous publications and anthologies.
She lives in Denver, NC and teaches small group poetry workshops.
Participants will view and discuss the visual arts and words, then create a poem.
"Beyond Brushes and Pens" is being held in conjunction with the 35th annual ARTOBERFEST at Mooresville Arts. Samples of poems are available on the

As a premier resource for writers, the Charlotte Writers' Club receives countless requests for advice and assistance each month. Nurturing writers and using our literary skills to serve the community are at the heart of the club's mission. Among those we hear from are incarcerated men and women who have discovered an interest in writing.
Recently, we have been receiving quite a few requests from inmates asking for critiques of excerpts from their work and for writing advice. If you are interested in providing assistance and encouragement, contact Gina Carroll Howard at [email protected] for further information.
