Road Closures for Folsom Turkey Trot
The Folsom Turkey Trot, an annual 10K run and 5K run/walk, will require closures of various Folsom roads on Thanksgiving morning on November 23. The event benefits the Twin Lakes Food Bank, the Folsom Athletic Association's Never in Our Town Youth Scholarship Program, and the Johnny Cash Art Trail. The 10K run will begin at 8:50 a.m. and the 5K run/walk will begin at 9:10 a.m. Both events will begin  at City Lion's Park, located at 403 Stafford Street, near the Folsom Public Library and Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary. The courses are on Folsom trails, bridges, and streets, including Natoma, Sutter, Reading, and Leidesdorff streets. There will be various road closures on multiple streets and rolling road closures to allow traffic in or out. Police officers and course monitors will guide traffic and detour signs will be marked. View the course maps or visit www.folsomturkeytrot.com for road closure details and more information.

Help Keep Leaves out of Storm Drains
Keep storm drains clear and prevent localized flooding by managing the leaves on your property. Rake the leaves in your yard, gutters and sidewalks and place the leaves in your green waste container. Piled leaves on the street can make street sweeping difficult, and can clog street sweeping trucks. Remember that residential households can have up to two green waste (and two recycle) carts with their basic trash rate. You can also include yard waste in your next bulky waste cleanup collection. Leaves and other smaller items should be bagged. To schedule a bulky waste cleanup or to order a second green waste cart, call 916-355-8367 or visit the City's website.

"Teaching Art Inside" Exhibit Reception Friday
The Gallery at 48 Natoma hosts a free public reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, November 17 for the new exhibit featuring paintings and prints by former correctional art instructor James Carlson, and artwork by incarcerated artists from the Arts-in-Corrections program at the California State Prison, Sacramento (New Folsom Prison). For more than 30 years, Mr. Carlson taught visual arts and facilitated a fine arts program at both the state and federal prison systems. His resourcefulness in teaching high-level art techniques with limited supplies, dwindling budgets, and difficult and often hazardous environments is nothing less than inspiring. The collection of high-caliber works by his students is testimony to the exceptional instruction provided by Mr. Carlson. An exhibit of photographs from the annual Folsom Focus contest will also be on display in the Community Exhibition Gallery. The galleries are located in the 48 Natoma Senior and Art Center; regular hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday, with extended hours from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday.
