Your credit union has recently done just that. As of September 19, 2017, we became WV Central FCU. We are now federally chartered and have a community field of membership that includes Wood, Pleasants, Ritchie, Wirt and Jackson Counties in West Virginia as well as Washington County, Ohio.
This change will allow us to open accounts for anyone that lives, works, worships or goes to school in any of the above mentioned counties. This change will allow us to provide the benefits of being a credit union member to our entire community!
Being a credit union member has it benefits. Benefits that include the upcoming International Credit Union celebration that we will be recognizing during the month of October.
During that time members will be able to enjoy our "Memberriffic" celebration. Members can add .02% per year of membership to a 12 month certificate with a special starting rate of 1.25% APY*. So if you have been a member for 10 years, your rate will be 1.45% APY*. Loans will work the same way by reducing current loan rates by .02% per year of membership. So that member with 10 years of membership will reduce their rate by .20%.
I encourage everyone that I know to join the credit union. This is not done because this is where I make my living, it is done because I know WVCFCU provides superior financial options. I recommended WVCFCU to my parents, my wife and my children so that should tell you how certain I am that being a credit union member is in your best interest!
