KOP Rail Named One of 7 Game-Changing Transportation Projects
Curbed Philadelphia Highlights KOP Rail's Potential for Improving Transportation in Philly Area

The extension of the Norristown High Speed Line into King of Prussia is the crucial piece in connecting King of Prussia, one of the largest employment centers in suburban Philadelphia, to Center City and University City in Philadelphia.

Travel to King of Prussia currently occurs by bus or automobile. Frequent traffic congestion causes unreliable travel times, hinders transit ridership and limits growth. An extension of SEPTA's Norristown High Speed Line to King of Prussia would provide many benefits to the region, including:

  • Providing travelers with a rail transit service option as an alternative to congested roadway travel.
  • Attracting new transit riders, such as shoppers, residents, tourists and commuters.
  • Supporting economic development opportunities and meeting regional sustainability and livability goals.

See why Curbed Philadelphia considers KOP Rail to be one of the most important transportation projects in the region!

Physical Improvements Action Plan
King of Prussia District is getting shovel-ready!

King of Prussia District's (KOP-BID) Physical Improvement Committee worked with the planning and landscape architecture firm, Glackin Thomas Panzak (GTP), to develop a plan for future improvement projects throughout King of Prussia. Lisa Thomas, President of GTP, led the committee and staff through a series of five workshops to identify locations and improvements that would provide the most impact. This effort has produced an action plan of 19 short, medium, and long-term projects to be considered by KOP-BID and/or its partners over the next decade.

Proposed improvements include vibrant planting beds in medians, public art installations, wayfinding and placemaking signage, community activity space and enhanced pedestrian connections.

Proceeds from King of Prussia Beerfest Royale help fund these dynamic improvements each year.  Get Your Tickets...

First Avenue Linear Park Will Create Connections
Progress Continues on the 1.3 Mile First Ave. Linear Park

King of Prussia District is stitching together 13 private spaces to form the next phase of the Linear Park. This exciting project will extend the Demonstration Project at 650 Park Avenue to the adjacent parcels east, west and across the street to continue the multi-use pathway for an additional 6,600 feet to reach 1.3 miles. This trail will be open for recreational use and provides a safe and inviting space for employees and residents to leisurely enjoy the outdoors.

In addition to creating more open space for the public, linear parks hold many benefits for the commercial property owners that allow public use of these amenities. Linear parks in other communities have increased property values and provided a healthier and more inviting environment for employees. This public improvement project initiates collaborations between businesses on behalf of the community while creating a unique sense of place.

King of Prussia District is eager to bid the construction following PennDOT's review once these public-private partnerships have been reached in the next month. Funding for this project has been provided by the KOP-BID and federal and state grants for creating multimodal trails. Let the connections commence!
