Ticket Entrances to Delone Catholic Football Games
After meeting with the Chief of the McSherrystown Police Department to improve safety and security by reducing access points at Delone Catholic HS athletic events, starting this  Friday, September 29th , the ticket booth closest to the intersection of South Street and S. 6th Street will no longer be open for admission to home football games.

We kindly ask that guests use one of two entrances still available along Delone Avenue or the ticket booth next to the concession stand along side of South Street.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Testing Day for Sophomores and Juniors: Oct. 11
Attention Parents:  Delone Catholic will conduct standardized testing on Wednesday, Oct. 11. All juniors and sophomores will take the   Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT). In addition to preparing students for the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT), the PSAT results are used as a first step to identify National Merit Scholars and commended students from among high school juniors across the United States. Registration information will be given to the students in the next week.  The test fee will be $16, and that will be due by Wednesday, Oct. 4.  Juniors and Sophomores were acquainted with the format of the test and techniques used in taking the test successfully during their English classes by the Guidance Department. The test will be administered during the morning session. Students can  practice online through the Khan Academy. At the conclusion of testing, (approximately 12:30 p.m.) students will be dismissed for the day.

Freshmen will be engaged in the following sessions that morning:  Freshmen Service Project, Health and Fitness, Career Inventory, and the TASC program. They will be dismissed at approximately 12 p.m.
Freshmen are permitted to wear their gym uniform on Oct. 11 for Testing Day. If students do not yet have their DCHS gym uniform, they may wear their eighth grade gym uniform.

That day, any Junior, Sophomore, or Freshman who plans on riding the Pa. public school OR Md. buses may not leave the school campus until those buses arrive here at school at their normal time.  Students will be able to eat lunch in the cafeteria but will NEED TO BRING A LUNCH FROM HOME that day. These students must indicate that they will be taking the bus by signing a form that is available in the Guidance Center by Oct. 6. Students are not required to stay in school if they can arrange alternate transportation.

Seniors will attend their class retreat on Oct. 11.  They will be dismissed upon their return at 2:15 p.m.

Calling all Band Alumni!
All alumni of the DCHS Band (marching or concert, any graduation year) are cordially invited to play in the bleachers with the current Marching Band at the upcoming homecoming game on Friday, Oct. 13.

Mr. Yealy can supply some drums, but most alumni will need to bring their own instruments. Color Guard alumni and former instrumentalists who don't have access to an instrument are also invited to join us in the bleachers. All participants are asked to register online by Friday, Sept. 29. Playing participants are kindly asked to make a one-time $5 donation at the game to help the band purchase additional copies of the iconic "yellow books" for alumni to use.

If possible, participants should plan to meet at the west end of the home bleachers around 6 p.m. on Oct. 13. The 2017 DCHS Marching Band will hopefully have time to perform their field show around 6:35 p.m., following the pre-game homecoming crowning. Latecomers are welcome to join us any time that evening. We hope to see you there!

Act Now to Support Expansion of Education Tax Credit Program!
Pennsylvania lawmakers have returned to Harrisburg to continue debating the 2017-18 state budget. While this remains an uncertain time, it is also an important time to show support for an expansion of the Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program.

It has been acclaimed as one of the best educational programs Pennsylvania offers to students in both public and private schools, and as is stands, the House has a chance to vote on an EITC increase.

We need your help to urge and remind all lawmakers to invest in success and support the expansion of the EITC program by voting YES on a state budget that includes an increase.

Faces & Our Culture

From the Spiritual Life Office
Join Us For The Rosary
Friends of Delone Catholic High School:
On the first Tuesday of every month, we will meet at 9:30 a.m. in the Delone Catholic chapel to say a rosary for our students, faculty, staff and administration.  On October 3rd, our special intention will be that we strive to follow the example of the Blessed Virgin Mary as our model of prayer.  In honor of the 100th Anniversary of the apparitions in Fatima, Portugal, we will ask for our Blessed Mother's intercession; that the Holy Spirit will pour down His grace and peace on the whole world.   Everyone is welcome. If you have a special intention we can pray for, but you cannot attend, feel free to send a note into the office. We will be keeping everyone in our Delone Catholic community in our prayers. Take a brief moment out of your week to join us in asking Our Lady to intercede on our behalf. If you have any questions, please call Annie Kilkelly (717-637-0993).

SportsLeader Program - September Novena

SportsLeader Virtue of the Week
One pillar of the SportsLeader program is a weekly virtue that we incorporate into our athletic practices and throughout our school community. Every week, we will share them here to encourage the students to take the virtue into their homes as well!

This week, our community has been focusing on the virtue of simplicity -  the strength to live focused on what is truly important. Keeping it SIMPLE is a great path to success in many ways. Try to simplify your life this week - clean your house, go through your possessions, pack up things that are decluttering your space so you can more easily focus on the important things in your life.

2017 Women's Conference Pulpit Announcement
Women of the Diocese of Harrisburg, this conference is for you!
When was the last time you took a day to refresh your spirit and rest awhile in the arms of Jesus and Mary, while, at the same time, enjoying the company of like-minded women?  On Saturday, Oct. 14, the Diocese of Harrisburg will offer our 3rd Annual Women's Conference at Bishop McDevitt High School.

The theme this year is Lead All Souls to Heaven: Mary's Message to Us from Fatima.  Our Keynote Speaker will be national speaker, author, and award winning journalist, Sue Brinkmann, who will share her powerful conversion story and how it fits right in with Mary's message to us from Fatima.  There are 36 workshop choices over 3 sessions.... plus Confession, Eucharistic Adoration, Beautiful Music, great exhibits, good food, and Holy Mass celebrated by Bishop Gainer...as well as fellowship with hundreds of women.

Last year more than 800 women attended this conference.  Come and see what everyone is talking about, and see what God's love can do in your life!
We know you're busy.  Unwrap your schedule so that you can wrap yourself in the love of Jesus and Mary.  You and those you love and serve every day will be grateful you did.  We hope to see you on Oct. 14!
