"1925" Premieres Today in Jardin de Las Granadas!

Experience a unique collaboration between the Santa Barbara Public Library and 1st Thursday when local artists Kym Cochran and Jonathan Smith unveil their art installation today in Jardin de las Granadas. Called "1925" in reference to the earthquake of that year, the installation features four faux rock sculptures in various stages of shearing and collapsing. From 5 pm to 8 pm you will also be able to see the movie they have created about the earthquake, featuring photographs from the Edson Smith Photo Digitization Project (which is funded through the Santa Barbara Public Library Foundation) projected directly onto the rocks! Jardin de las Granadas is located across the street from the Central Library, at 25 E. Anapamu Street. Period costume is encouraged!

About the artists:
Kym Cochran's work is displayed throughout the Americas, from the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando, FL, to Pereira, Colombia.

Jonathan Smith's is renowned for large-scale digital video projections, including the Lucidity Festival and the 22-foot monster exhibited at the Sunken Garden Summer Sci-Fi Movie Series.

P.S. Can't attend the opening? Be sure to visit Jardin de las Granadas next time you're in the neighborhood. The rock sculptures will remain in place throughout 2017.
