Join our amazing keynote, Andrea Hoban, for an engaging kick off to the conference, exploring how your own mindset and beliefs can effect your behavior and relationships with others. Andrea's years of experience in leadership development will provide us all with an unique expertise around supporting youth in becoming empowered, confident students. 

You will also be welcome to join Andrea in a Campfire Discussion
following the keynote to dive deeper in your own reflection as you share and ask questions with others. 

If you will be traveling from a rural community, you are welcome to apply for our Rural Travel Stipend to support registration and travel expenses. If you are planning to do a group registration, please contact Katie Lakey to submit your list of attendees. 
Lights On Afterschool is This Month!

Each year, Lights On Afterschool grows to become bigger and better than the year before. This year, there is an exciting" Library Partnerships " theme to put a spotlight on the creative ways public libraries and afterschool are teaming up to promote student growth and learning. 

Whether you are partnering with a library, school, mayor or none at all, there's still plenty of time to  Register your Event and help spread the word  before October 26th ! Use #LightsOnAfterschool and #AfterschoolWorks to get the conversation going and share your story.
STEM Spotlight: Funding to Support Career Connected Learning

The Oregon Community Foundation recently released the application to regional STEM Hubs for development or expansion of Career Connected Learning that is focused on serving girls, low-income youth, youth of color and/or rural youth. This grant opportunity is part of a $10 million investment through a number of strategies over the next few years to advance CTE-STEM education for girls, low-income youth, youth of color and/or rural youth around the state in alignment with the priorities of Oregon's STEM Education Plan. Never too early to start thinking about Summer Learning  

National Summer Learning Association (NSLA)
 is hosting their national conference this month in Arizona, talking about how Summer Changes Everything. The conference will emphasize the power of summer learning within 4 strands: Effective Learning Approaches, Systems Building, Program Planning, Policy & Advocacy. 

You can also check out some of NSLA's planning tools for communities and programs who are interested in planning ahead to help make the most impact during crucial summer months.

Cloud Quest: Science Action Club
September 30th in Salem, OR

This STEM program for middle school youth in out-of-school time uses games, projects, and hands-on activities within the context of citizen science to explore nature, connect with scientists, and design strategies to protect our planet. Cloud Quest also includes, climate, weather and how youth can participate as citizen scientists to track them all!


Equity in Expanded Learning
Starting October 21st in  Wilsonville, OR

Join Dr. Johnny Lake in this six part series on developing and supporting your ability to recognize, understand, engage and address cultural and racial dynamics, increase knowledge and skills regarding cultural and racial issues. Participants will walk away with a better understanding about specific needs of those being served while dealing with a diverse set of issues.
