Milo is a bored kid until he is invited into adventure in the Land of Wisdom. There, along with Tock, his dog and sidekick, he is forced to think about many new things including rescuing the Princesses of Rhyme and Reason from the Land of Ignorance. The knowledge and skills Milo gains on his journey not only help him save the princesses, but make him realize his attitude toward learning will never be the same.

The leading characters are Milo performed by Owen Bigler (9); Tock by Abby Manning (9); Humbug by Jillian McAuliffe (9); Princess Rhyme by Linda Presta (10); and Princess Reason by Anishi Patel (10). Break a leg!
1:1 Chromebook Initiative
Survey seeks input from East Campus parents.

The Lake Park High School 1:1 instructional technology initiative is now in its second year of implementation. All incoming freshmen received a Chromebook, a laptop-like computing device, to support and enhance their educational experience. All students taking classes at East Campus now have a device.

As part of the district's continuous improvement efforts, Lake Park is interested in hearing again from parents/guardians of the Class of 2020 and 2021 how the Chromebook program is working for your student. Please take this  brief survey to provide feedback that will contribute to recommendations and modifications of the program.

Additionally, to promote greater communication about support programs that are available for Chromebooks at Lake Park, a  1:1 Family Updates Website has been created. Visit the site to learn more about the specific programming available as Lake Park grows together as a learning community.

The League of Women Voters of Roselle/Bloomingdale will host "The Return of Civic Education to Illinois High Schools" on Tuesday, October 3 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Lake Park East Campus Dice Auditorium.

A new state law requires a standalone civics semester as a graduation requirement for all Illinois public high school students starting with the Class of 2020. Attendees will learn what led to this new law being passed, how it will be implemented throughout DuPage County, and what it means to the Lake Park community.

The program will feature three speakers and a moderated question and answer session. The panel will include: Barb Laimins, McCormick Foundation, Mentor Liaison; Dr. Darlene Ruscitti, Regional Superintendent, DuPage County Schools; and Don Fulmer, Lake Park High School, Teacher and Social Studies Department Head. Lake Park Civics in Action instructor Gina Mayo will also participate.

This event, co-sponsored by Citizen Advocacy Center, is free and open to the public.

Students must show proof of being adequately vaccinated for meningitis by Friday, October 13 in order to remain in school. Students who have not shown proof of appropriate vaccination will be excluded from attending any classes beginning on Monday, October 16. Future Lancers to Take PSAT 8
Middle schools assigned to October testing dates.

On Saturday, October 14 and Saturday, October 21, Lake Park High School will administer the PSAT 8 assessment to all eighth grade students in preparation for their freshman year. It is important that students do as well as possible on each component of this exam as these test scores will impact student placement into classes next fall.

Each student planning to attend Lake Park next year must take this exam, which will provide individualized information about a student's aptitude in reading, writing, language, and math. This test must be completed in order to generate a schedule for your student.

Please review the schedule to determine your student's assigned testing date:

Session 1 - October 14, 2017
Medinah Middle
Peacock Middle
Spring Wood Middle
St. Luke
Trinity Lutheran

Session 2 - October 21, 2017

Students should report to Lake Park East Campus by 7:45 a.m. and enter the building through the main entrance by the flag pole. Testing will begin promptly at 8:00 a.m. Students will not be admitted to the testing area after 8:00 a.m. Testing sessions will end at approximately 11:00 a.m. Each student should bring two #2 pencils, an eraser, and a calculator.
Calling All Lancers for Life
Provide valuable feedback by completing the alumni survey.

The Lake Park High School Educational Foundation is conducting a survey for all Lake Park graduates regarding future alumni relations activities and programming.  The Foundation is soliciting input about how alumni would like to engage with their alma mater.

All Lancer alumni are encouraged to take the online survey that will remain open through the end of this year.
Flags for Roselle Seeks Volunteers
Final flag installation slated for Veterans Day.

In its inaugural year, the Flags for Roselle program has experienced overwhelming success. Hundreds of volunteers, including Lake Park High School students, installed 189 flags in front yards throughout the Village on Memorial Day, Flag Day, and Independence Day.

Saturday, November 11, marks the final installation of flags during the 2017 program. Volunteers are still needed for this final installation on Veterans Day. Vehicles will need to accommodate approximately ten 8-foot flag poles. If you can help, contact  Assistant Principal Dominic Manola who is currently organizing teams and vehicles for November 11 as well as for the 2018 Flags for Roselle program.
