Upcoming Jury Training for New Volunteers

Training for new students in 8th-12th grade. Thursday, November 30th, 4:15-6:15 pm at the Teen Center in Eureka.

Please help spread the word.

This 2 hour training is peer-to-peer run by our youth Leaders! Learn everything you need to know to get started with us.

RSVP to Teen Court by phone or email if you are a youth in grade 8th-12th and want to attend.

Recent Events

Jury Trainings

On September 20 & 21, Teen Court conducted a Jury Training at Academy of the Redwoods and recruited about 12 youth to sign up as new volunteers. Some are already volunteering!

On Oct 25th, we trained 13 new student volunteers!


 

Attorney Training 

On Oct 11, we trained 2 new student attorneys. They have now already handled 2-3 cases each!


 

CA Association of Youth Courts (CAYC) Annual Board Meeting

On September 28-29, Sacha attended the annual CAYC Board Meeting. She was selected as Chair of their Programs Subcommittee. The association underwent an intensive strategic planning series this past year and has emerged as a more action-oriented entity. Sacha is honored to serve with this statewide association.

Volunteers of the Month

September: Cody 
Cody has served as a student attorney and clerk and is a new Teen Court Leader this year. He brings a great care and concern to our Teen Court work.

October: Sophia

Sophia is a new Leader this year and has been steadily serving as a client attorney. She is graceful, articulate and shows a great compassion for her clients. We are lucky to have her!

 

November: Mattea
Mattea has served as juror, judge, and attorney. She is also a new Teen Court Leader this year, and she has great leadership qualities that will help our program grow.
New Program Coordinator
Ashley Alban

Ashley Alban graduated from San Jose State University with her Bachelor's in Social Work in 2015.  Since then, she has worked in case management with adults with developmental disabilities, veterans with disabilities experiencing chronic homelessness, and sexual assault survivors.  Ashley recently moved from the Bay Area to Humboldt, and she is enjoying getting to know her beautiful new surroundings-with none of that Bay Area smog.  Ashley is passionate about being an advocate and empowering clients to their own successes.  She has a special interest in restorative justice, ways to reduce recidivism, and community involvement. 
Restorative Assignment

Youth Fire Prevention & Intervention Program 
This is a consequence-driven assignment for specific cases that involve fire. Arcata Fire District offers a 1-2 hour educational component along with a homework requirement for those youth that may be deemed low risk.
