State of the Parish Make-up Sessions

If you didn't get to see our State of the Parish Presentation at Mass last weekend you have two more opportunities.  In Parish school families will be able to pick up their packets as well.
Thursday, November 16th at 8:30 am in Egan Auditorium
Tuesday, November 28th at 7pm in Egan Auditorium
Scrip will be sold during Coffee and Donuts on Sunday, November 19th.
It is at this time of year, that we are asked to think about our stewardship of all those gifts that God has placed in our trust. Not just how we are taking care of those gifts, but how we are sharing those gifts with our parish and our community. We are asked to consider if we are returning a proper portion of those gifts to the Lord through His instrument on earth, the Church, for the building up of His Kingdom.

This week you will be receiving a letter from Father asking you to prayerfully consider your Stewardship to St John for 2018.  You can fill out the card and return it to the parish office or click on the link below to pledge online.

Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe
November 25 & 26
This Mass establishes the titles for Christ's royalty over men: 1) Christ is God, the Creator of the universe and hence wields a supreme power over all things; "All things were created by Him"; 2) Christ is our Redeemer, He purchased us by His precious Blood, and made us His property and possession; 3) Christ is Head of the Church, "holding in all things the primacy"; 4) God bestowed upon Christ the nations of the world as His special possession and dominion.  www.catholicculture.org

This weekend we also celebrate the wonderful volunteers who keep our Parish running.  It's truly humbling to see how many people contribute to the life of our Parish.  Come join us!

Greetings St. John Community!  Sponsorship Opportunities

We are Karen Gunther Bombino and Kristen Capka, the auction co-chairs for the annual St. John Auction that will take place on Friday, April 20th, 2018 at Fremont Studios.

This year, St. John will be celebrating our 33rd Annual Auction and our continued success can be attributed to the generosity of you, our community partners.  All proceeds from this auction directly benefit our students by contributing to the school's operating budget, curriculum enhancements, and supporting our unique Fair Share Tuition Program.  The Fair Share program allows people to pay what they can; this unique and successful 25 year-old program allows St. John School to be one of the most accessible Catholic schools in Seattle.  Read more...

The Most Important Question

Advent, the beginning of the church year, starts next week.  You know, right after Black Friday...  It's a good time to reflect on the year past, and the year ahead.  I have a wise friend, Bill B., who once asked me, "What are the most important questions in life?"  Here's Bill B's list, in order of importance:

1) What will I do about God?
2) Who will I choose to accompany me on the journey through life?
3) How many children will we have, and how will we raise them?
4) How will we support ourselves, our family?

Notice the most important question.  Moses sets that question before the people of Israel in Deuteronomy 30:15-20.  Here's the nugget:
"I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse.  Choose life."  What will you do in the year ahead to choose life?

[Thanks to Bill B.]

If you have prayer or Bible nuggets you'd like to share with the parish, email me, Bill Marty, [email protected].  Thanks!

Feast November 16

Each month a portrait of the Saint of the Month is displayed in the church in one of the south side shrines.  You are welcome to spend some time reflecting on the life of the Saint and praying for their intercessions.
