Sept 29 - Oct 1 | 10:00 am - 6:00 pm | Aspen Art Museum
It's someplace warm. A place where the beer flows like wine. Where beautiful women instinctively flock like the salmon of Capistrano. I'm talking about a little place called the Aspen Art Museum. Okay, enough Dumb and Dumberreferences. The Aspen Art Museum is the real deal, internationally recognized for its contemporary art exhibits. Programming includes art talks, gallery tours, private collection tours, the Distinguished Artist in Residence Program, educational workshops and member art trips to international art centers. Shaggin' wagons welcome.

Thru Oct 1 | 10 am - 6 pm | Denver Art Museum | Gen. Adm.

War never seems to go out of business; while we fret over the threat of increased conflicts in North Korea and Afghanistan, images of earlier conflicts stick with us, whether presented in such great paintings as Goya's "The Third of May" and Picasso's "Guernica" or in the powerful photography of Robert Capa, Margaret Bourke-White, Sebastião Salgado and countless others. Two timely new exhibits - a large group show, Art and Conflict, with views of war by Colorado artists, and a vintage propaganda/poster show, The Great War: Visions of a World Conflict.

Thru Dec 31 | 9 am - 5 pm | Buffalo Bill Museum & Grave | Gen. Adm.

With recent appearances on Access Hollywood and in Parade Magazine, how does Comic Hypnotist Rich Guzzi plan to keep the momentum going? How about a nation wide 300 show comedy tour to prepare for the one hour special he is developing!
Rich Guzzi is a comedian that does hypnosis, not a hypnotist that does comedy; that is what ultimately sets his show apart from others. At any given time, Rich can take an already hilarious situation happening on stage and turn it into an unforgettable moment. Hypnotizing a group of audience members and being able to have them act outrageously is one thing, but making the scenarios create a storyline that produces outright hysteria is another, all created with new audience members every night making each show a unique experience.

Sept 30 | 7:15 & 9:45 pm | Comedy Works South

After leaving SNL, Norm starred in two movies, one being the cult classic Dirty Work, and he also appears in many Adam Sandler films including, Billy Madison. Norm also starred in three television series. He then went on to become a judge on Last Comic Standing as well as portraying Colonel Sanders in an avant-garde Series of spots for KFC.
His tour-de force anti comedy roast of Bob Saget became an instant classic, as well as the five- minute Moth Joke, on Conan which received a full one-minute laugh. These, though, are merely experiments Norm tries out on his TV appearances.

The road to success has been a steady climb for Swardson. He first found success by writing Malibu's Most Wanted for Warner Brothers and by featuring in the hit Comedy Central series RENO 911. After catching the attention of Happy Madison Productions, he quickly became a fixture in the company, writing or co-writing and producing such projects as Grandma's Boy, Benchwarmers, and co-producing I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry with Adam Sandler and Kevin James. Nick has performed in movies such as That's My Boy, Blades of Glory, 30 Minutes or Less, and Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star, which he wrote, starred in, and produced. His first CD/DVD, Party, on Comedy Central Records (produced by Happy Madison) went platinum. He followed that up in 2010 with his first one-hour stand-up special on Comedy Central, Seriously who Farted.
In addition to his career in film and in the world of stand-up comedy, Nick continues to have a prolific career in television. His Comedy Central sketch show, Pretend Time with Nick Swardson ran from 2010 to 2012, and he voiced the role of 'Troy' on FXX's animated show, Chozen. The Ken Walker Sextet is a little like the full moon, except the KWS is more dependable and swings harder. The full moon arcs gracefully across the sky. It's nice, but does it make you snap your fingers? Walker and his band evoke (but don't demand) that response.
Ken Walker started playing upright bass when he was a student at Arkansas Tech University, where he received his bachelor of music education degree. He moved to Denver in late 1985 and in 1987 began a 12-year tenure as the house bassist at Denver's legendary jazz club El Chapultepec that ended in 1998. Today, he plays regularly at DazzleJazz and is the Rocky Mountain region's 1st-call jazz bassist. Walker has played with a veritable Who's Who of jazz artists including: Eddie Harris, Hal Galper, Tom Harrell, John Abercrombie, Randy Brecker, Nat Adderley, Jimmy Witherspoon, Carl Fontana, Slide Hampton, Clark Terry, Joe Pass, Herb Ellis, Freddie Hubbard, Lew Soloff, Clifford Jordan, James Moody, Javon Jackson, Ray Bryant, Roy Hargrove, and many more. He has also performed at the Telluride, Jazz Aspen Snowmass and other festivals throughout the Western States, and he is currently on the faculty at the Lamont School of Music, where he teaches jazz bass to all jazz and commercial bass majors, coaching the Trad, Hard Bop and Latin Combos in addition to his studio.

Jazziz magazine writes that Nelson Rangell is "an artist of depth, a master of song, and an improviser non pareil." The Times of London notes "his extraordinary facility on a range of instruments and his undoubted virtuosity," adding that Nelson is "one of fusion's most accomplished exponents." Saxophone Journal writes "He commands the alto saxophone with such authority there can be no denying that Rangell is a true artist," and Flute Talk Magazine states "Nelson Rangell creates the impression that anything is possible when he improvises." Such praise is a confirmation of what contemporary jazz fans have known since the Denver based saxophonist emerged in the late 80s: that Rangell is one of the most exciting and diverse performers in the genre, equally adept at soprano, alto, and tenor saxophone, as well as being a genuine virtuoso on flute and piccolo.

For over a thousand years, Tibetan Buddhist psychology has taught techniques for overcoming negative, afflictive emotions, such as anger, greed, jealousy, sloth and ignorance. In the film THE LAST DALAI LAMA?, His Holiness explains that Tibetan Buddhism is both a religion and a "science of the mind"; he also shares his crystallized understanding of the nature of mind, and its part in the creation and alleviation of all of our suffering. Believing that this precious wisdom belongs to the world, twenty years ago The Dalai Lama challenged a select group of world-renowned Neuroscientists and Mind/Brain researchers to look into the workings of the mind, and to prove scientifically that "Tibetan Buddhist technologies" for overcoming afflictive emotions are skills that can be learned by anyone. The Dalai Lama commissioned Dr. Paul Ekman and his daughter Dr. Eve Ekman to come up with an "Atlas of Emotions" as a way of understanding the effects of emotions on having a tranquil mind. Being able to recognize the patterns, triggers and responses to emotions is the first step in dealing with them. In a moving sequence with a high school class in British Columbia, His Holiness The Dalai Lama is able to share his passion for the subject. His urgency and dedication come through in THE LAST DALAI LAMA? as he now turns 82, and must deal with the questions of aging and death, and whether he will reincarnate as The Dalai Lama, or if he will be the last of the lineage that has existed for a millennia.

Originally created under the specter of the AIDS crisis, this timely musical about middle-class family dynamics manages to remain buoyant and satirically perceptive even as it moves towards its heartbreaking conclusion. Lincoln Center Theater's production stars Christian Borle, Stephanie J. Block, Andrew Rannells, and Brandon Uranowitz, all of whom received Tony nominations for their respective performances.
