There's a season for everything and a time for every matter under the heavens.
Ecclesiastes 3:1

Dear Friend,

I hope you are well. This fall has been met with so many joys and yet so many thoughts of "where is God in all of this?" And I find it such an opportunity as a church and as a community to stop to pause to think about where is God in our lives.

The answer for me is simple.

God is here!

Equipping us to do the God's work in this world. Can you imagine if you were Moses. A man who would have rather stayed home to tend the sheep. But God did not equip us just to stay home. God equipped us knowing that it was going to be hard. There is no guarantee in this life that we will be #blessed. The guarantee in this world is only one thing that we are loved by God. Love does not mean we get what we want nor that nothing happens to us. What it does mean is that God is always inspiring us and guiding us, and if we listen we can act!

I want to thank you all for participating in the buckets for the Hurricane Harvey survivors. My family have connected with a family of two in Texas. We will be sending clothes to them this week along with toiletries, etc. It is hard to rebuild but with some help, they will find new life.

With the recent destruction of Puerto Rico, I am looking for a way for us to help. Let us take care of our Puerto Rican Brothers and sisters. Our missions and service team will have more for you, here are some places to donate and an article on how to help.

Here is my encouragement for today: God is good. God does not discriminate. God does not make one race or country better than another--humans try to do that. God creates all to be one. And it is our responsibility to care for all people in all situations. If one of our neighbors fall down, we take a knee or help to care for their needs. I may not have much, but I will give it all I have (even when my resources are small). God will provide.

So the goal for me (and I hope you make some kind of goal for yourself) is to give opportunity to learn and listen and to send positive words to all those around. Let us be equipped with the light of God that affects people in ways that brings for positive growth.

Blessings,
Rev. Charity Omartian
