Russell's Ritings,
Poet Michaele Russell has written these words:
The loaf is passed, and I partake;
His body broken for my sake.
The cup is passed, I drink the wine,
I tell myself His life is mine.
And then the tears begin to fall;
My selfishness is clear to all.
This sacrificial meal declares
That I must serve and love and share.
I feel his hands reach out to me.
They clasp my own so lovingly.
He signs the cross, and then I see
The towel and basin beckon me.
Sunday is World Communion Sunday. This is a very special moment in the life of the church when Christians around the world pause and partake of the bread and wine symbolic of the broken body and shed blood of Christ. I hope to see each of you. The sermon is " A Formula for Living" and the text is Philippians 2: 5 - 13. A special guest for a "mission moment" will be
John B. Mezger
, head of the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless, one of the missions we support beyond our Tithe Plus.
See you Sunday - where the folks are friendly!
Russell

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this worthy cause, and thank you to Bill Graf and Penn Gildersleeve for their help in making this happen!

Fellowship Coffee Hosts Needed
We are in need of volunteers to host our Sunday morning fellowship coffee hours. We have two coffee hours: one after the 8:30 service and another after the 10:30 service. Hosting involves bringing snacks, making coffee, being sure coffee cups are out, loading the dishwasher and cleaning the counters.
If you are interested in volunteering, there will be a sign-up clipboard on the counter near the coffee station in Fellowship Hall. Or... you can call the church office at 303-674-4810 to sign-up.

Are you celebrating a birthday, anniversary, or other important milestone in your life? If so, you might order Altar Flowers to celebrate, and you can include a note in the bulletin about your celebration. This way your church family can celebrate with you. ALTERNATIVE GIFT FAIR
VOLUNTEER SIGNUP BEGINS OCTOBER 1!
|
The 2017 Alternative Gift Fair will be Saturday and Sunday, November 11 and 12. We are again recruiting and coordinating volunteers from UMCE. Thank you VERY much for those of you who have worked at the AGF in the past! Once again this year, in order to avoid the difficulty of passing around multiple sign up sheets among the seven sponsoring congregations, we are providing a central sign up website using SignupGenius. This way, you can see all the open volunteer opportunities and time slots, not just those assigned to UMCE. As in the past, you may volunteer for Set-Up, Clean-Up, Cashier, Cashier Support, Volunteer Check-In, Van Driver, Parking Lot Attendant, Safety Assistant (medical person) and more! We need your help to make the Fair a success again this year!! THE SOONER YOU SIGN UP, THE MORE CHOICE IN JOBS YOU WILL HAVE!
Questions? Please call, email or visit Bill Graf at 303-246-8330 and
[email protected]. Bill will be present on most Sundays at a table in the Fellowship Hall to help you sign up in person. You may also sign up online yourself.
To sign up online:
- Go to the AGF website http://www.gifttwice.org/, then click on the "Want to Help?" link on that menu bar, which will take you to the SignupGenius site for the AGF.
- Review the volunteer jobs, the dates and time slots and then click the "Sign Up" button for job or jobs you select. This will result in a check mark (√). Repeat this for each job for which you wish to volunteer.
- When you have clicked all the jobs you want to volunteer for, please click the green "Submit and Sign Up" button at the bottom of the page. You do not need to set up a SignupGenius account to volunteer at the AGF.
- You will be taken to a place to enter information about yourself. Please:
- Enter your name, email, phone number and any other required information; and
- Click to show your affiliation with the United Methodist Church of Evergreen.
- Click "Sign Up Now!" to complete the sign up process.
- Click "Back to Sign Up" and repeat the first two steps to be sure you are shown for the jobs you wanted.
- Close out SignUp Genius.
- You should receive an email confirming the jobs you are signed up for.

Birthday Donations
As you celebrate your birthday please consider supporting the church with a birthday donation. There is a jar in Fellowship Hall by the coffee area for folks to deposit their birthday donation.
During their birth month, folks can contribute a dollar for every year of their life. Or if that seems like too much money, just donate something to celebrate your time here on earth. There are envelopes in the jar. Please write your name on the envelope if you are giving cash, so you can get credit for the donation.
