Website Update
The new York Catholic home page is up and live at www.yorkcatholic.org.   If you're still seeing the old page or what looks like a work in progress, please sign out of your browser, close down, and sign back into your browser.  You can also choose to clear your cache.  Steps vary according to the browser you are using, but generally you can click on the 3 vertical dots in the far upper right of your screen, select Settings, then select Clear Browsing Data.  When the data is cleared, re-enter yorkcatholic.org in your browser for the new look.
Early Dismissal
We will have an 11:30 AM dismissal on Friday, October 6, while our teachers attend an In-Service. Busses will adjust their schedules for the earlier pickup time and we ask parents to also pick-up by 11:30 AM.

It's Not Just Magazines Anymore!
Booklets and letters for the annual Magazine (and more) Drive will be distributed to students tomorrow with returns accepted October 10-20.  Students have the opportunity to sell more than magazines this year.  J ewelry, gift wrap, pizzas, cookie doughs, gifts, team cups, and more are also available.

Only magazine subscriptions, nuts, and gifts are available to order online at https://gaschoolstore.com .  Be sure to use YC code 2569838 in your online order, print the confirmation page, and bring it to school with the rest of your orders.

All refrigerated items must be ordered through a student using a paper order form.  The perishable items must be picked up on Wednesday, November 15, from 3-6:30 PM.  We cannot store any items not claimed during this time.

Encourage students to contact parents of recent YC graduates to encourage them to renew their subscriptions they purchased in previous years.  If they place their order or renewal online, be sure to have them print the confirmation and forward it to the student to submit with their returns.

Don't forget - your student can earn up to $2,500 in tuition credit for college!  Be sure to review the "Tuition Rewards" flyer in your Magazine (and more) Drive packet for details.

As always, we ask for your help to count and record the returns. No experience is necessary.  Training takes less than 15 minutes.  If you would like to help, please click here for the form to complete and send it to the office c/o Mrs. Sheila Gick or email it to [email protected] .

Respecting Life
October is Respect Life month.  YC students will be building and installing a new Cemetery of Innocents on the front lawn to remind us to pray for the souls of the babies who have been lost to abortion.

The next mission collection on  Wednesday, October 4 , will benefit the Pregnancy and Family Resource Center in York.  This organization provides alternatives to abortion and encourages the healthy development of the family.  PFRC offers maternity and infant clothing, cribs, car seats, formula, diapers, and other baby items to those in need.  The center also offers parent education programs, counseling, and support services to help clients build critical parenting skills. Please be generous to this local charity which has been helping women and saving innocent lives in the York area for many years.
Picture Day Orders
Lifetouch is the exclusive photography vendor for York Catholic.  All students in grades 7-11 will have their yearbook pictures taken Friday, October 6, from 8:30-11:30 AM at YC. Students must be in uniform.  Families are under no obligation to purchase a package, but all students will be photographed for the yearbook.  For those families wishing to place a photo order, please know there are no paper order forms.  You can place orders online by going to  www.mylifetouch.com  PRIOR to Picture Day and using Picture Day ID# LT217798Q0 (the last digit is a zero and not the letter O).  Orders must be placed by October 6 at 8 AM.  Pictures will be distributed to students in approximately 4 weeks.

In addition to the portrait photos, Lifetouch also takes candid action shots at sporting events, music events, and school events throughout the school year that are available for purchase.  These photos are posted on the YC website under Current Students-Resources-Photos.

If there is ever an error with your photo order, please contact Lifetouch at 1-800-244-4373.  Their Customer Service Department will be best equipped to correct your order or answer your questions.

YC Water Bottles

Students are permitted to carry clear water bottles during school hours.  Students may use an original water bottle (Deer Park, Poland Springs, etc.) or a York Catholic reusable bottle now available online through the Spirit Store. It's a clear 22 oz. sports bottle with a straw and spill-proof lid.  Students can write their name on the bottle and add a sticker (for identification purposes) as long as it doesn't cover the YC logo on the bottle.  The cost is $5.  Click here to access the Spirit Store.  Bottles are available on each team's link, as well as on the York Catholic General apparel link. Thank you to the YC Stewards of the Earth Club for arranging this environmentally-friendly option.
Amazon Smiles & Giant Support YC

There are two places that are giving back to YC for every dollar you spend.

If you typically do any of your shopping online at amazon.com, go to www.smile.amazon.com instead and the Amazon Smile Foundation will donate .5% of eligible AmazonSmile purchases to York Catholic's Student Aid and Endowment Fund.  Simply select York Catholic as the recipient of the donation when making your purchase. AmazonSmile is the same Amazon you know -- same products, same prices, same service -- with an added benefit for your favorite cause.

Giant's A+ School Rewards program offers schools like York Catholic a unique opportunity to receive a percentage of sales made by YC families, which supports our students' educational experiences by providing important funding. Participation in this program does not deduct personal bonus points from your individual Giant card. In fact, it allows you to leverage those hard earned (or spent) points to do good for YC!  Please consider registering your bonus card account and be sure to select York Catholic as your beneficiary. To register, go to www.giantfoodstores.com/school-rewards.  Follow the prompts to create your online account.  You DO NOT need to re-register your card if you have registered in previous years. This is a great way to support YC. Every time you shop at Giant with your bonus card, you will be supporting our students. If you wish to register and would like assistance, please submit your bonus card number to Jennifer at  [email protected].

These are two great ways for YC to earn thousands in free money.  Thank you for your support!
Future Looks Bright
Saturday will be a special day for some of our future students as they get a chance to learn from the "big kids" at YC.   The Futures Cheer Clinic for students in grades K-6 who registered will learn cheers, chants, and a dance.  At the same time, the Futures Marching Band Camp welcomes 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students who play band instruments or who are interested in color guard. They'll play level-appropriate Marching Band music, as well as learn basic drill techniques, and basic color guard techniques with a little fun thrown in.

Those who participate this Saturday are invited to the October 13 football game to cheer with the cheerleaders on the sideline and play with the band in the stands.  We look forward to welcoming the YC students of tomorrow!
