Sixth Grade Parents,

Your daughter or son will be taking the Iowa Tests of Basic Skills (ITBS) and the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT). These are standardized tests that are taken by children all over the nation. The main purpose of these tests is to provide the school with information that can be used to improve instruction and to help teachers make sound educational decisions about each student's learning.

It is very important that students arrive at school on time, well rested, and have had a good breakfast.

ALL 6th Graders will have lunch at 12:45,  a sack lunch is preferred.

***Please make sure your student can test without interruption.***

ITBS Test date:
Wednesday, October 11, 2017;
All Day (9:00am -3:40pm)
ITBS: Assesses whether students have mastered the key academic areas of reading, language, and mathematics. This assessment provides national percentile scores in each academic area tested. The results of the ITBS assessment will be sent home once the reports have been delivered to the campus.

CogAT Test date:
Tuesday, October 17, 2017
Periods 1-5 (9:00am-12:40pm)
CogAT: Looks at a student's relative abilities in reasoning with words (Verbal Battery), quantitative concepts (Quantitative Battery), and spatial/figural drawings (Nonverbal Battery). The results of the CogAT assessment will be sent home once the reports have been delivered to the campus.
