This past month or so has been one of great challenges for so many... The tragedies of hate and violence right here in our own backyard, and the aftermath of devastating earthquakes, flooding and hurricanes that are still wreaking havoc and causing great suffering for multitudes of people all around the globe. These are the images that flood the news outlets and social media, which is why it so important to allow our hearts to think on God, on all the things that are lovely... and to allow the presence of the Holy Spirit to lift us above the confusion and give us heavenly perspective and his practical direction!
One of the ways we do this is by gathering together and worshipping our good and awesome God. He is the hope of the world. As his people, we are His hands and feet!  There are so many ways to help alleviate the suffering all around us, and our church family has given generously to help. Remember to pray for those still being affected and especially those whom God has at the front lines bringing His Kingdom realities and allowing His Will to be through them as they give comfort, aid and spiritual guidance.
I heard a report recently that gave credit to faith-based agencies, many of whom we as a church directly support. Basically it said that these Christian groups were much more effective, and much more in touch with the needs of the people they were helping than all the government agencies combined.
Let's keep praying, worshipping, and giving... we are making a difference!

Blessings,
Donna

Bible Study: (Wednesday from 6:30 to 7:15 pm).  Pastor Jim continues with a survey-talk-through approach to the New Testament.  If you are interested in examining the Scriptures plus a look at the times surrounding Jesus' ministry, public figures and their influence on the early church, a closer look at the geography of the early church and prophecies fulfilled - this study is for you.  Participants receive a binder full of handouts that can be used for personal study as well as teaching materials for your own Bible class.  Members of all faiths (and non-faiths) will benefit from this study.  Makeup sessions for late enrollees are available by appointment with Pastor Jim by calling or emailing your request.

The Ladies enjoyed another inspiring evening together!  Sandra Burton showed us how to make our homes beautiful using flowers created by God on the third day of creation!  Look for more opportunities in the coming weeks for women to grow spiritually from the inside out.

Youth (ages 12-18)

Recharge has had a very busy, but amazing, month of September!  We have been learning how you can make a difference no matter how old you are, where you come from, or what talents you may/may not have.  We have had some awesome open discussions about what God is doing in our lives already.

Not only have we been enjoying our amazing study, but also tons of games and yummy food!  The laughter that fills the youth center on Sunday nights would bring a smile to anyone's face!

In September we went to the Carrazana's home to work on the Ambassador's packages.  We sent care packages to the church members that are away in college, involved in mission work, or in the military.  It was truly a blessing to send these packages and hope that the Lord was able to bless those that received them.

On top of all of our activities, we painted the youth center and are currently redecorating.  We have also been supporting each other by meeting at the church to go to one another's sporting events.  It has been an amazing month and it already looks like October is going to be the same!  We will be going to Scaremare on October 21st.  Every teen is not only encouraged to come, but to also bring a friend!  Bring as many people as you can!  Please let Brittany know if you are coming and how many people you are bringing for transportation purposes.

Thank you for your prayers and support!  Please continue to pray for the teens and the youth group as we continue to grow.

Brittany

Ambassadors

At the end of September, care packages full of snacks, notes, laundry supplies, and homemade Rice Krispies treats, were packed by our youth group and sent out to fourteen members of our church family who are away from Hillsboro in college, serving as missionaries or in the military.  Thanks to all of you who contributed the items to fill the packages and for all your prayers!  Please continue to pray that our Ambassadors not only grow closer to Jesus, but introduce others to Him.
