September 2017
AER Information Sessions: Integrated Decision Approach
The AER is holding information sessions with respect to the implementation of its Integrated Decision Approach (One Stop). There are only two more sessions available, both of which are on Friday September 29th.

For more information on these sessions, please click here.

Production Allocation Unit Agreements (PAUA) and Spacing
A reminder that a requirement for the submission and approval of a holding application is that ownership be common at both the lessee and lessor levels.  This does not preclude an operator from drilling from FH to Crown lands. In these cases, separate holdings would be applied for and issued by the AER and the operator would apply to Alberta Energy for the issuance of a PAUA, allowing for the allocation of royalties payable on the production volumes between the lessors of the individual well.

For more information on PAUA's or if you would like some help with your PAUA/holding submission, please contact us. We'd be happy to help.
Annual Pressure Survey Requirements for Gas Allowables
A reminder that annual pressure surveys must be submitted by November 1st for an allowable to be assigned for 2018 and to avoid noncompliance and penalties. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you would like us to review your gas allowable and determine whether it is still valid.

SME: Pad Well Information to Now be Captured Via IRIS
As of October 4, 2017, IRIS will be updated to allow for the submission of a multiwell Pad.

SME PNG014: Changes to Reporting Requirements
The SME is soliciting feedback to its incident reporting requirement changes, as outlined in Directive PNG014. All feedback can be directed to Ken Kowal @ Ken.Kowal@gov.sk.ca by October 1, 2017.

BCOGC: Industry Bulletin 2017-18
Please note that, effective September 11, 2017, operators are required to submit their well suspensions and inspections through the eSubmission portal.

For more information on this Bulletin, please click here.

H2S Release Rate Assessments
A reminder that the AER requires a release-rate assessment to be conducted on all wells with sour gas potential. The AER expects that all documentation and calculations be held onto in case of emergency or for AER audit purposes.

To avoid any issues down the road, Benoit highly recommends that operators take advantage of the AER H2S release rate presubmission process , before submitting a well license.

Although the process is optional, it allows operators to have their calculated EPZ radius verified by the AER, ensuring that the AER is in agreement with the consultation and notification radii.

If you would like some help with this process and EPZ calculations, Benoit offers this service! Please don't hesitate to contact us.
