Achievement Testing Grades 3-8

The Iowa Assessment will be given
Oct. 2-6 to students in 3-8th grade. Testing will be primarily in the morning, but some may have in the afternoon as well. Below are a couple of tips to make sure your child is prepared, comfortable and confident on testing days.
1. Get a good night's rest.
2. Eat a good breakfast .
3. Arrive to school on time.
4. Please make every effort to attend school everyday in order to complete testing timely.
5. Remind your student to do his/her best, but not to stress.
6. Discuss how the purpose of the test is to show how well students have learned the material from class.
7. During testing week students may wear spirit shirts with uniform bottoms.
8. Students can bring a healthy snack each day.

Second Grade is when many children are about 8 years old- what the church recognizes as the "age of reason". Therefore, without delay, we welcome young Catholics to the Table of the Lord, the Eucharist. That means it's time for their First Communion.
The first mandatory meeting regarding the Sacrament of Penance and First Confession will be
Wednesday, October 11 at 7:00 p.m. in the church.
The second mandatory meeting regarding the Sacrament of Penance and First Confession will be Wednesday, January 24 at 7:00 p.m., hopefully in the Selinger cafeteria.

The Home & School Committee is hosting our annual Chili and Cinnamon Roll Supper on Monday, October 9th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Carryout is available starting at 3:00 pm. The dinner is held in the Selinger Center Gym. You can order tickets by filling out the attached form below(one sent home with students) or can pre-purchase on Sept 30th and Oct 1st in front of St. Peter Church. Uniform Orders:
The manufacturer of the sweatshirts has discontinued light blue and white. Rather than have our distributor seek out another manufacturer, we will refund any current orders for these items and will no longer order them. We will sell the ones we have left so they will remain on the order form but only in the in stock sizes. So St. Peter sweatshirts will only be available to order in NAVY.
November 3rd is the next deadline for ordering out of stock uniform items or Spirit wear.
Taking Pictures at School:
I know many of you like to take pictures at different events that we have here at school. Please remember that pictures are not to be taken by visiting parents in school during the normal school day.
Because not all parents give consent to use pictures of their children, it is important that if you take a picture at an event like mass, CSW activities, or athletic activities that you only have your child in the picture. Especially if you plan on sharing these online.
We understand that this makes it more difficult to take a picture of your child, but we are obligated to keep ALL children as safe as possible and honor the wishes of those parents.

Shoes must have a closed heel and toe and be suitable for outdoor play.

If you click on that it will show you all the years available. You will need to click on the 2017-2018 School Year to see this year's information.

McTeacher's Night is October 3rd at the McDonalds next to the Eagles on Missouri Blvd. Some of your favorite teachers will be there to greet and serve you! Please come and support our school. The money raised will go into our playground fund. Thank you for your continued support!

K of C 2017 Soccer Challenge
|
Bishop McAuliffe Knights of Columbus - Council 12992 is hosting the 2017 Youth Soccer Challenge
on Saturday, September 30.
Registration opens at
10:30 am with the contest beginning immediately after the Varsity game around
1:15 pm. Contestants get into the Helias game FREE!
The location is planned to be at the new Helias soccer field. However, this could change depending on whether the field is open by
Saturday. Contestants will be notified by email if there is a change in venue to the 179 field.
K of C Council-level Soccer Challenge is a competition for players ages 9-14 demonstrating their great soccer skill on penalty kicks (there is no goalie).

Bullying Workshop Free
New York Times bestselling author, survivor, and celebrated anti-bullying activist Jodee Blanco will be giving a free seminar open to the public on school bullying survival and prevention sponsored by St. Stanislaus School on
Tuesday, Oct. 10 at 7:00 p.m. in the school gym.
The seminar will include a 90-minute workshop featuring Jodee's compelling personal story of her struggle from fifth grade through high school as the target of severe school bullying. She will share what her parents and teachers did that helped, what didn't and why, as well as offer similar insights from the tens of thousands of bullied students she has worked with across the nation.
The workshop will also include specific, practical advice on how to intervene if a child is the victim, bully or bystander, from the rare point of view of someone who's actually lived through it and now dedicated her life to helping others. In addition, Jodee will address the plight of the "adult survivor of peer abuse" and offer suggestions on how to overcome those open wounds from the past.
We have also teamed up with St. Stanislaus and Jodee Blanco will be coming to St. Peter to spend some time with our students and share her story and give suggestions and tips for bullying.

Invitation to Pray the Rosary

Ocean Star Foundation wants to invite you to join in a Public Square Rosary Rally on Saturday, October 14th at 12:00 noon at the State Capitol, south lawn facing High street. This Public Square Rosary, sponsored by America Needs Fatima, will be one of 20,000 rallies that will take place all across the United States on that day. Please join us in offering reparation for the sins and offenses committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary and to fervently pray for the conversion of the United States. There will be a procession from St. Peter Church to the Capitol at 11:30 a.m.. We will pray four mysteries of the rosary.

The Butter Braid Frozen Pastry Fund Raiser starts this Friday, September 29 and will run until October 13. Orders MUST be turned in NO later than Monday, October 16. I have to get the order processed in a timely manner so that it is ready for our scheduled pick up day on Wednesday, October 25. This product is FROZEN and must be picked up on the scheduled pick up date. The school does NOT have storage for product not picked up.
The Fall Gift Fund Raiser pick up will be on Wednesday, October 18 from 3-5:30 p.m. in the school cafeteria.

We get cash back rewards for these items. Please send any of these in with your child in a marked envelope.
