Celebrating the Great "Co-Mission" - Renewing the Church Re-imagining our mission. September 30, 2017 at the Church of the Good Samaritan from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. with Keynote Speaker: Andy Crouch. Host Churches: Paoli Presbyterian Church and the Church of the Good Samaritan.

What is the Great "Co-Mission"? Guided by and with the power of the Holy Spirit, all Christ-followers are called to be witnesses of and for the Gospel. Join us as we look to reclaim and restore God's mission for His people and His church. We seek to find and proclaim our common-unity as we build a stronger and deeper community of faith. There will be three general sessions and four breakout sessions.

Cabaret performer and recording artist
Sterns Matthews will perform in concert at 3 p.m. on  Sunday, October 1 , in the historic  St. Philip's Episcopal Church at 10 Chapel Road, New Hope.
 
Stearns Matthews is a MAC and Bistro Award winning vocalist based in New York City whose recent appearances include The Town Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center, Feinstein's/54 Below, and The Metropolitan Room. His critically acclaimed debut album SPARK won the 2015 Bistro Award for Outstanding Recording as well as the LaMott/Friedman Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs Award for Outstanding Recording.
 
Matthews' concert is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. and any freewill offering will be accepted for admission, with proceeds benefiting the artist and the church's outreach program. For more information www.stphilipsnewhope.org .

A Pet Blessing Invitation . Dogs and Puppies! Cats and Kittens! Fish, hamsters, and ponies! Ferrets, parrots, and lizards! All pets, and their stewards, are cordially invited to receive a blessing of good health and great happiness at the Episcopal Church of the Advent on Sunday, October 1 at 2:00 p.m.

Our children will be leading the service in celebration of St. Francis. Pets of all faiths are welcome as are their people. Even if you don't have a pet, you are cordially invited to come and enjoy the animals. Bring a picture of your pet if they are more comfortable staying at home. St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Chestnut Hill will hold a Spaghetti Dinner this Saturday, September 30 in the Parish Hall at 22 East Chestnut Hill Avenue, Philadelphia, PA  19118. All proceeds benefit the Homeless Health Initiative at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

In addition to a scrumptious dinner ($10 for adults, $5 for children 8 and under), there are raffle tickets to be purchased for the myriad of baskets made up of contributions from local merchants. Tickets will be available at the door and seating is from 4 p.m. through 6:30 p.m.

Attention, Good Samaritans!  St. Mark's, Frankford needs your help in filling these  "Blessings Bags" for distribution to those in need. Please help us make these empty bags overflow with kindness, as well as: bottled water, soap, razors, toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, individually wrapped 'wet ones', individual snacks, combs, pocket packs of tissues, tampons, sanitary napkins and hand sanitizer.

When a person is faced with housing problems, with troubles and issues that are overwhelming and with nowhere to go...nowhere to turn...they feel lost, misplaced and forgotten. By providing this little bit of comfort, we can make someone feel better. With one little bag, we can offer a glimmer of hope...and joy...and peace.

A Recovery Eucharist takes place at the Philadelphia Episcopal Cathedral each Tuesday at 5:15 p.m. in the Cathedral. This is a service devoted to healing, personal transformation, and the sacred space between the Holy Eucharist and 12-Step spirituality. All people seeking connection with a Higher Power of whatever denomination or tradition, or of no affiliation at all are welcome to attend.

A special invitation is extended to those recovering from any addiction and to those who desire to support people in recovery. NOTE: Recovery Ministries of the Episcopal Church fully supports the privacy of participation in twelve step recovery meetings.
