Domestic Violence, Guns and Mass Shootings: A Community Conversation

Please attend a very timely and free program on the deadly connections between domestic abuse, gun violence and mass shootings like those at the concert in Las Vegas and in the church in Sutherland Springs, TX.   The program  will feature two panels of gun violence survivors, policy experts, and three Maryland legislators working on bills to keep guns out of the hands of domestic abusers in Maryland.  Learn more and RSVP.
Israel 2.0 Trip Info Session

Come learn more about this unique tour of Israel in June 2018, co-led by Rabbis Roos and Goldstein. This trip will be an opportunity to learn about Israel from a totally different perspective. Crash Course in Judaism: Holidays

If you are new to Judaism, raising a Jewish family, or it has just been a long time since religious school, this class covers the basics. The course will focus on what Jews do: prayer, holidays, lifecycle and home Jewish practices and rituals. It is an opportunity to learn about some of the foundations of living a Jewish life and to ask the rabbi your Jewish questions. 

This class is led by Rabbi Jonathan Roos. No registration necessary.

Time to clean out those closets?  Ready for the next size jacket? Kids complaining that their boots are too tight? Please bring your gently used and ready to wear winter clothing items to Temple Sinai for families at Highland Elementary School in Silver Spring. We will be accepting winter coats, gloves, winter hats and snow boots for Project Mensch, a long-term partnership between the Temple Sinai community and Highland Elementary School, a Title 1 school in Silver Spring. There will be boxes set up by the entrances.  Please contact Amanda Miller if you have any questions or would like to arrange a separate drop off or pick up.

...Leanore (Lee) Greenwald, mother of Harold Greenwald. A graveside service will take place on Thursday, November 16 at 2 pm at King David Memorial Gardens in Falls Church, Virginia.  A reception will follow at her home at 4 PM.

...Ari Antonelli (David) on the death of her father, Larry Schwartz. Funeral services took place in New Jersey. The family will be sitting shiva locally at their home tonight from 7-9 PM.

Gateway to Israel: A Journey for Adults with Disabilities
May 8 - 18, 2018
Join the Edlavitch DC Jewish Community Center for our second-ever trip to Israel, a trip designed specifically for individuals with disabilities focused for individuals with cognitive disabilities. Together on this 10-day journey, we will explore Israel's history, spectacular cities, dynamic people, vibrant art and culture, world-class scientific and medical achievements, and natural beauty. The group will be accompanied by the EDCJCC's Director of Inclusion and Disability Programming and an additional EDCJCC Staff. All participants must bring a companion on the trip with them.
