Communication & School Safety

Communication with parents is important. The weekly school newsletter is a great tool for parents to stay informed. And, as you now know, we use text messaging to keep parents updated with important reminders, as well as in the event of an emergency at school.

School Safety:  The safety of everyone on our campus is paramount to us. Parent Volunteers must be compliant with Diocese requirements, and we all understand what 'stranger danger' means! Though you may feel comfortable being on campus, some of us may not know who you are. All visitors must come to the office and check in with us before coming on campus. We appreciate your cooperation.

Please click on the link HERE for important information regarding what to do if there were an emergency at school.
LETTER FROM MRS. RYAN
Dear Parents,

I'd like to draw your attention to two important events coming this week - - our annual Walk-a-Thon on Friday and the first Sunday of the month 9:00 AM Mass at St. Rose Parish.

Friday is the Walk-a-thon. Besides being a healthy way to raise money, it is also great fun for all who participate - - students, teachers, and parents.  This is one of the two major fundraisers of the year. The proceeds from this Parent Association event are used help us keep tuition more affordable for all families.  As part of your tuition contract with the school you agreed to support our two major fundraisers. For this reason it is essential that every family participate by turning in a pledge form with at least one pledge or use the online method of obtaining pledges. There are a number of fun rewards for your children if we get 100% participation. Pledges are due on Friday.

This Sunday is the first of our parish Mass celebrations. We are strongly encouraging all of our Catholic families to attend the 9:00 AM Mass on Sunday at St. Rose Parish. It is no secret that many Catholic families these days don't go to Mass very often. Fr. Denis and I have talked about this a lot, since the overall mission of a Catholic school is to pass on the Catholic faith to each new generation. This is not about Catholic guilt, we just want you to see what you are missing and how regular Mass attendance can add to your family life and your own individual faith life. St. Rose parishioners are lovely people who truly care about their parish school and support us in many ways. We'd love you all to get to know each other better. So we hope you will come with your children and, if you have time, enjoy the pancake breakfast afterwards. Students should express their pride in being a St. Rose student by wearing their dress uniform to the Mass.

School Policy for Illness (from school handbook)
It's that time of year! Colds, coughs, sniffles, flu, etc.
All those little germs and bugs are busy jumping around the classrooms.
Here are a few basic guidelines for parents whose child(ren) may be coming down with a bug!

Fever
Fever free for 24 hours without Tylenol or Motrin before returning to school
Cough / Cold / Runny Nose
Few younger children can effectively blow their nose and wash hands afterwards. A child with thick or constant nasal discharge should remain home until clear to avoid spreading illness to others.
Vomiting/Diarrhea A child should be free of vomiting/diarrhea for 24 hours before returning to school.
Strep Throat
Notify office. A child is contagious until he/she has been on antibiotics for 24 hours. Child should remain home for 24 hours of treatment and until feeling better.
Lice
Notify office. Child may return to school after lice treatment
Pink Eye (Conjunctivitis)
Notify office. Child may return to school 24 hours after treatment has begun. No discharge from the eyes.
The 24 hour test
A child should stay home for at least 24 hours if the following symptoms are present the morning of school or the previous night:
  • Vomiting and/or diarrhea
  • Fever 100+
  • Itchy or reddened eyes with discharge (see Dr)
  • Unusual rash (see Dr.)
  • A poor night sleep due to illness, cough, etc.
Reminder: Children may not keep medication of any kind with them during the school day.
See 'Medications at School' policy below.
MEDICATIONS AT SCHOOL
Students are prohibited from having medication of any kind with them during the school day or from bringing into the classroom. If your child requires medication to be administered, please stop by the school office to complete the Authorization to Administer Medication Release Form.
ALL medications must be in original packaging, with prescription attached, and/or dosage instructions on the package.  We will not administer Allergy medication at school. Allergy medications should be taken at home prior to coming to school.
SCHOOL DAY PARKING

SR parents may NOT park in the CN parking lots during school hours, 7am-2pm. St. Rose has only a few designated VISITOR parking spaces.   Overflow parking is available at Trione soccer fields across the street and you can walk in.

Do not leave your car unattended in the traffic circle between 7:30am-8:30am AND 2:30pm - 3:30pm. This is a drop-off & pick-up zone during these hours.

St. Rose Faculty / Staff parking lot is reserved for teachers and staff only.
Please do not park in a numbered space between 7am-2pm.
(This is the lot on the left side of SR near pre-school)
Parking in a RED zone (designated FIRE LANE) is prohibited by the Fire Marshall.
