Manufacturing has a storied history in Maryland. We have to act to make sure it has a future, too.

Manufacturing is a pillar for the state’s economy and workforce needs. That is why the Maryland Chamber of Commerce continues to support
pro-manufacturing legislation like the  More Jobs for Marylanders Act of 2017 It’s also why we collaborate with national and state manufacturing associations.

To help celebrate and raise the industry’s profile, the Maryland Chamber of Commerce proudly partnered with the Regional Manufacturing Institute and the Maryland Manufacturing Extension Program for last Friday’s Maryland Manufacturing Day . Gov. Larry Hogan kicked off the event in front of a capacity crowd and manufacturing exhibitors from across Maryland, and announced a $2 million grant to Chamber member RMI from the Maryland Energy Administration. Paid through the Next Generations Gains Program, the three-year grant will provide RMI members with energy audits to assess their energy sustainability and cost savings, and encourage them to enroll in state energy efficiency programs.

Gov. Hogan also said Maryland has experienced manufacturing growth for the first time in 18 years. If you want to know the economic trends in the state, there’s no better source than our partner, the Regional Economic Studies Institute at Towson University. Daraius Irani and his team of economists and analysts will present  RESI’s Economic Outlook Forum  on Oct. 19. This free, half-day event is focused this year on building an ecosystem for entrepreneurship
