We thank all 7 parishioners who stood for election this year. St. John's is incredibly blessed by your willingness to serve your church in this capacity.
The Loaves and Fishes Fall Food Drive concludes this Sunday, November 19!

Now is the time to place food in those barrels or adopt one.
There are three ways that you can donate:
  •  Place your food donations in one of the readily-available barrels
  • "Adopt a barrel" with your family, your Bible Study group, your choir, your Sunday School class, your preschool class
  • Make a cash contribution for the "Personal Shopper" to purchase food for you. A check in the collection plate with "L&F Personal Shopper" on the memo line and you are good to go!
Please DONATE and help us make this food drive a resounding success in the typical St. John's fashion!
Our 27th Annual Salvation Army Angel Tree will be set up in the Rector's Gallery this coming weekend,  November 18-19.

We invite you to select a tag, note your tag number on the sign out sheet, take a plastic bag in which to return your UNWRAPPED gifts with the Angel tag affixed, and return them to the area behind the reception desk no later than MONDAY, DECEMBER 4.   Please honor this return date so that we can deliver the gifts by the date they are needed for distribution.   Questions?  Please call or text Toni Robinson @ 704-517-9550 or email @ ToniLRobinson@gmail.com .

In just 3 weeks, St. John's opens its doors for the Urban Ministry Center's Room in the Inn ministry.  Your generosity of time and treasure is what makes this possible.  We have several of our volunteer slots filled thanks to you but there are still many opportunities to serve.  Our immediate need for December is for Overnight Hosts and Dinner Crews (especially the first 2 weeks). As you think about our brothers and sisters being left out in the cold, please consider this ministry. It has a significant impact on many lives.

Here are some ways you can help:
  • DONATE - We NEED individually packaged toothbrushes, travel-sized toothpaste, and travel-sized deodorant (unisex) for the hygiene kits we give to every guest.  We also need gallon-size Ziploc plastic bags, Clorox Wipes and donations of sweat pants, sweat shirts and new white t-shirts (Medium, Large, XL, XXL, and XXL sizes).  These items can be dropped off anytime at the small donation basket in the church reception area.  Please note we do NOT NEED travel shampoos, conditioners, or lotions at this time.  If you have these items please consider donating them to the Hagar's Pantry ministry in Room 134.
  • VOLUNTEER - We need people to help on Thursdays each week to help prepare the room, drive the bus, to stay as overnight hosts, to cook dinner for our guests and the overnight hosts, to bring bag lunches to provide to our guests when they depart Friday morning, and to wash sheets and towels after guests depart.  Please prayerfully consider volunteering your time and talents to this meaningful and much needed ministry.  If you are interested in volunteering, you can sign up on our Sign-Up Genius page:   http://www.signupgenius.com/go/70a0f4ea4a628a64-20172018.
  • GIVE - Cash donations are always welcome.  This year we hope to begin replacing some of the older mattresses and pillows, but we cannot do so without your generosity.  Checks should be made payable to SJE but please indicate that the donation should be allocated to the Room in the Inn ministry.
  • PRAY - Even if you can't volunteer or donate, please pray for our homeless neighbors, the Urban Ministry Center, and for all the people caring for and ministering to our homeless neighbors.
Thank you so much for your thoughtful prayers and active support of the Room in the Inn Ministry.  Please do not hesitate to contact Carol Fortenberry at carol@fortenberrylambert.com or Janice Stafford at janicestafford@parkerpoe.com if you have any questions or would like additional information.
The Annual ECW Bake Sale will take place Sunday, December 10, in Tilson Hall after each service. Please bring baked goods, crafts, jellies, etc to Tilson Hall on Saturday, December 9, from 8am-noon - wrapped for Christmas, if possible. All proceeds go to St. John's and outreach. Questions? Nancy Joyner 554-6359.
