Upper Kirby Construction
Work on Westheimer, Bissonnet, and Eastside progressing
Westheimer Storm Drainage and Street Reconstruction:

Westheimer Street improvements are steadily progressing this week between Kirby and Buffalo Speedway. Traffic signal lights will be complete at the  Buffalo Speedway intersection (pictured) and traffic lanes in this area finally open.

New sidewalks and streetscape are progressing further east on Westheimer near Bammel and Eastside streets.  New sidewalks  are near completion at Westheimer and Bellmeade Streets directly in front of CVS, Oaks Cleaners and Relish Restaurant.

Early this week, new water lines are scheduled to be connected on Westheimer at Bammel  and Eastside streets overnight. Water service for homes or businesses will not be affected.

Work continuing for the next few weeks includes  new conduit for new pedestrian lighting and new irrigation lines for landscape. Newly installed walkway pavers are complete in over half of the new walk areas.

Bissonnet Storm Drainage  and Street Reconstruction:

Work on Bissonnet between Kirby and Buffalo Speedway continued this week at a busy pace.
The west end of the project near Buffalo Speedway is very active with roadway and utility improvement activities through about 400 feet of roadway. Crews are nearly finished excavating the roadway and installing the new waterline.

Other work is in progress on the east end of Bissonnet roadway improvements between Dincans and Wakeforest. The intersection at Dincans (pictured) will continue to be closed to through-traffic as  the new storm system is installed. West bound traffic has been reduced to a single lane in this area.  New landscape, pedestrian lighting, and irrigation on the south side of Bissonnet  between Kirby and Wakeforest will resume after the first of the year.

Eastside Street Utility and Streetscape Improvements:
Work is progressing on Eastside Street south of Richmond Avenue. The southbound vehicle lane and adjacent sidewalks are being be removed and new storm and water lines are being installed (pictured). One lane in either direction will remain the standard through the construction zone. Please be courteous to other drivers and obey construction zone speed limits in this area adjacent to Levy Park.  Over the next few months work in this area will include installation of new water lines, new storm drainage, and new   roadway  lighting.
