This monthly Resident Educator e-news is designed to provide you with helpful information and resources.

Residency is a time to practice, refine and gain a deeper understanding of the art and science of teaching under the guidance of a certified mentor and the support of a professional learning community.
 
OFF TO A GREAT START!
Thanks to all who attended the first RE1 session. Your attention and participation is appreciated.  We look forward to working with you in the upcoming sessions.  Be sure to mark your calendar now for your next session scheduled for:
RE 1.2 Wednesday, Nov. 8
All sessions are held at the Educational Service Center of Lake Erie West, 2275 Collingwood Blvd., Toledo.

Session Topics include:
  • Communication
  • Professional Growth
  • Teaching and Learning Cycle
Homework for this session:
Videotape a lesson and review it with your mentor. Discuss how you can reflect on your own practice and better assess your own skills. Bring your lesson plan and reflections to the next RE Year 1 session on November 8.

WHAT YOU SHOULD BE DOING NOW
Resident educators should be working on the requirements listed below, collaboratively with his/her mentor:
  • Complete your OTES self-assessment
  • Complete your OTES professional plan and goals
  • Plan frequent meetings with your mentor and document these meeting
  • Put Teaching and Learning Cycle into practice
  • Begin Focused Mentoring I with your mentor - professional growth and communication
 
MEETING CANCELLATIONS DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER OR OTHER ISSUES
RE sessions will be held as scheduled unless there are extreme conditions that interfere. This would be a rare occurrence. If a session is cancelled or changed, participants will be notified by email from the ESC of Lake Erie West by 2 p.m. so be sure to check your email prior to leaving school.
