News from the Shelter
October ended with a total of 40 adoptions which is a wonderful number of cats finding new homes and loving families.  To give you some perspective on numbers, we had 393 adoptions in the last fiscal year...so many cats have been rescued and then placed in their forever homes!

Two of our newer residents, Mallory and Neytiri, have had some problems adjusting to shelter life.  However, staff and volunteers are reporting good progress on both.  4 year old Mallory is now quite social and friendly with all she meets.

                      Neytiri                                             Mallory

Neytiri, a female tortoiseshell, is much braver and not hiding anymore, and has decided to be part of the welcoming team at the Front Desk!  We work very hard to help cats get used to the shelter environment, and it is so rewarding when they respond.
Nebula

You might not realize that there are medical specialists for cats just as for people, and we are able to obtain that care for our cats here at the shelter when necessary.  Nebula recently was seen by a veterinary ophthalmologist for an eye problem, and was given a very promising prognosis for her condition.

We have five very young kittens in foster care who were brought to CCS when they were found living in a dumpster.  Their mother had been hit by a car, and they were orphaned.  Although considered feral, these kittens are already enjoying being held, petted, and hand-fed.  Once they are big enough, and have been
spayed or neutered, they will be available for adoption.
November Adoption Promotion

The holiday season is fast approaching, and many of us are so grateful for the blessings of home and family.  More than ever, our pets are part of the family and add so much to our lives.  Be thankful for your furry family members, and if you do not have a cat in your home, please consider adopting.  We have an adoption special on ALL cats during the month of November!

Please visit our Facebook page for more information.

Visit our website to view all our cats available for adoption.

Note: our standard adoption  screening process applies to this promotion. Further, for cats age ten and older and cats with chronic medical problems we offer our Perpet-U-Care Program which provides
$250 of veterinary care services at the CCS Cat Clinic annually.
Opt to Adopt Diesel

Diesel is ready for his forever home!  Diesel is a sweet older guy who needs a special family to love him.  Diesel came to Cat Care Society in 2004 as a kitten.  He was quickly adopted, and spent the next 13 years with his previous family.  As Diesel got older, he developed bladder stones and urinary crystals, which required surgery and a prescription diet.  His family treated him, and worked with him for a long time.  Earlier this year Diesel developed another bladder stone, and his family decided the expense of his food and another surgery was too much.  They brought him back to CCS, and we quickly removed his new bladder stone.  Diesel will need to be on a prescription food for life, and also a supplement in his food to help prevent new bladder stones.  Diesel is friendly, talkative, and loves spending time with his human friends, but he does not like other cats at all.   He is the King of Hide and Seek at CCS.  He loves climbing into cabinets, and making everyone wonder where he is.   Diesel is waiting patiently for his forever home...come in and meet him today!

Diesel is part of our Perpet-U-Care program.  Please click the link to find out more:  http://www.catcaresociety.org/adoptions/perpet-u-care

Christmas Ornament
Donation Drive

CCS is holding a Christmas Ornament Donation Drive! Come down to the shelter this December to help a cat in need by selecting a picture themed ornament for $5.00. Your donation will go towards the care of the cats in our shelter!

Your ornament will have your name on the back and will be displayed in the CCS lobby in December.

Our goal is to have all of the cats currently in our care with Christmas ornaments sponsored this December!

You can sponsor your favorite cat directly at the shelter or (starting December 1st!) you can sponsor securely online.

Once all of the CCS cats have their ornament sponsored and displayed on the Christmas tree we will have our fun contest -  to see which cat secures the most sponsorships and is crowned King or Queen of the CCS Christmas Ornament Drive!

NEW THIS YEAR: After we crown our King or Queen, you can purchase your favorite CCS cats Christmas Ornament for $10 to display on your very own Christmas tree!

Golden Circle Ornaments

In addition to the shelter cat ornament drive, our volunteer elves created "Golden Circle" ornaments, for those who want to make a larger year-end donation to the ornament drive.

Your generous sponsorship of a Golden Circle Ornament will provide financial support for key areas of the shelter.

Our shelter uses an enormous amount of cat food, cat litter and medical supplies to care for the 75-100 cats in our care year round.

Sponsoring the Shelter Golden Circle for $2,500 will help us provide approximately 4 months of cat litter to the shelter cats. We use about 19,200 pounds (480 bags) of cat litter each year at a cost of $7,200.

Sponsoring the Purple Room Golden Circle for $100 will help cats like Molly. Molly lives in the Purple Room with her senior roommates. Your support of a Purple Room Golden Circle will help us provide 7 cases of wet cat food which will feed the Purple Room cats wet food for 1 month.

Shelter Ornament - $2,500 donation
