Below you will find news and information about the Republic School District. As a reminder, regular issues of Tiger Talk will be distributed on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month during the school year. Two summer issues in June and July will be distributed as well.
Communication Reminders
In lieu of the situations that took place in our district last Friday, we thought it might be helpful to share a few communication reminders with you.

The district communicates with families using the following tools:

FACEBOOK:

TWITTER:
District: @RepublicSchools
RMS: @RepMoMiddle
RHS: @RepMOHS

Tiger Talk e-newsletter (Sent the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month during the school year to emails the district has been provided by families. The public can sign up HERE.)

Peachjar E-Flyers (E-flyer distribution system sent weekly.)

Tiger Text and Voice Messages
All phone numbers provided to the district through the student information system will automatically be signed up to receive voice calls from the district and specific building in which your child attends. Parents/guardians/employees can also opt-in to receive text messages from the district at any time. These messages will be limited and of vast importance when distributed.

  • To opt-in to text messages, simply text "Y" to code 67587. At any time. Cell phone numbers that have been reported to the district will easily be opted in. If you are unable to use this code, please first contact the building in which your child attends to make sure your number is correctly listed in our system. If we have your number correctly on file, but you are still unable to receive messages it is most likely a wireless carrier issue. Please contact your wireless carrier and ask them to enable SMS messaging on your device.
  • To opt-out of receiving text messages, simply text "STOP" to code 67587. This is not recommended as text messages are a key way we inform patrons about important information.
  • To opt-out of receiving voice calls, email josey.mcphail@republicschools.org and include your phone number(s) and full name.
  • If you are not receiving voice calls and would like to, please contact the building in which your child attends to update your contact information.

Lockout vs. Lockdown Terminology

Lockout
A lockout will take place when there is an incident or situation where there is no direct danger or threat perceived toward students, employees, or school facilities. Business as usual will continue to take place within our school building walls. However, students are brought inside from any outdoor activities and
doors are additionally secured.

It is important to note that our buildings operate daily in near-lockout status. Perimeter doors are locked and visitors are screened at the building's entrance.

Friday's situation at Republic High School was a lockout as the police pursuit was not a direct threat to RHS students, employees or school facilities.

Lockdown
A lockdown will take place when there is a situation or the district has received information regarding a potential threat to students and employees. Internal procedures, which are practiced throughout the year, are implemented. Emergency personnel may be called on site to assist.

Activity Facility Update
Thank you to RHS students Tristan Brown and Jared Doty for capturing this footage of the activity facility construction! The perimeter drainage around the field is currently being installed, and play clock footings have been constructed. The old goal posts have been removed as they would have been too short with the new turf going in soon. The foundation has been poured for the visitor side locker rooms and concession stand. In addition, block walls are currently being constructed for the visitor side areas as well.  #makingprogress   #repmoproud
