Corrected guidance on calculating the Affordable Housing Fee for your project

We have updated our guidance on how to calculate the gross floor area (GFA) for your project, which ultimately determines your fee amount.

The GFA used for the affordable housing fee should not exclude basement square footage. There are only three floor area types that can be excluded, as listed on page 1 of the GFA Guide below.

Businesses have until April 30, 2018, to remove gendered signage from single-occupant, family, and assisted-use restrooms. Many have already made this simple change.

This does not apply to restrooms that contain multiple toilet stalls, or portable restrooms.

Making an appointment can mean the difference between waiting in line for hours for a walk-in spot versus being seen shortly after your arrival.

For all services--with or without an appointment--check in at the new kiosk or the Customer Service Center (both located at the entrance to the permit counter) when you arrive.

Feedback from customer surveys:

"I had such a pleasant transaction and I want to thank you for that!"

"I was surprised at how fast you were...I just wasn't ready for the speed."

While only these services are offering appointments initially, we expect to expand that in the future.
