PARISH OCTOBERFEST IS THIS WEEKEND!
Please make sure you come out to support the parish this weekend. We are all part of the same community and it is great to have the opportunity to share in this fun event. Most families have signed up for service hours and our students are preparing their acts for the talent show to be held on Saturday night. There will be games and great food, plus our talented students and parishioners performing, so be sure to come out for sure on Saturday night. Our students performers will need to arrive by 5:45 and the show is set to start at 6pm. On Sunday, come for Mass and stay for the food and fun! See you there!

Variety Show
Each year, our students audition for and perform in an annual Variety Show. Last year, Fr. Edwin asked us to move our event to the Fall so our school could be featured in the Parish Octoberfest Talent Show. This year, our students will be performing their acts at the Talent Show on Saturday night. All students who auditioned and were selected are expected to perform on Saturday night. It will be a great way to have our talented students showcased so everyone can see what amazing students we have at St. Ignatius!
The students will be rehearsing throughout the week during the day, and do a run through of their acts on Thursday for their school mates. If your child is one of the performers, please make sure he/she has all outfits, instruments, and any other needed items with them on Thursday at school.
They will perform for parents at Parent Preview Night on Thursday night in the Parish Hall to get them ready for the big show on Saturday night!
Candy Sale News
Thank you for your tremendous response to our annual candy sale! We have placed our final order of boxes and have only a very few left. If you want to sell more candy, Please call the office as soon as possible to have your child's name put on one of the boxes.
The official final turn in day is scheduled for this Thursday, October 13th, HOWEVER, because we had to order extra boxes at parents' request, we will extend the official deadline to Wednesday, October 18th. ALL CANDY MONEY FOR ALL BOXES TAKEN IS DUE 10/18/17. Only those children who bring in their candy money by 4pm that day will be eligible for prizes. Any money turned in after the 18th will be gladly received, however, the student will only be eligible for prizes based on the amount turned in by the 18th. Out of fairness, there is no exception to this deadline.

Dominican Corner
Dominic was born in Castile in Spain. He was a member of the Guzman family and his mother was a holy woman - Blessed Joan of Aza.

God had amazing plans for Dominic. He began a new religious order called the Order of Preachers or "Dominicans," after St. Dominic.

The Dominicans preached the faith to the people. They helped correct false teachings called heresies.

No one did more than St. Dominic and his preachers to spread the beautiful practice of saying the Rosary.

St. Dominic was a brilliant preacher, while St. Francis of Assisi was a humble beggar. Yet, they were very close friends. Their two orders of Dominicans and Franciscans helped Christians become holier.

Dominic's friars opened centers in Paris (in France); Madrid (in Spain); Rome and Bologna (in Italy). He lived to see his order spread to Poland, Scandinavia and Palestine. The friars also went to Canterbury, London, and Oxford (in England).
Dominic died in Bologna (Italy) on August 7, 1221.
His great friend, Cardinal Ugolino of Venice became Pope Gregory IX and a few years later he proclaimed Dominic a saint.

Feast of the Holy Rosary : October 7th

Thank you St. Dominic, for encouraging in us a devotion to praying the Rosary so that we can put Christ in the center of our thoughts and prayers.

You can find many great videos about the Rosary online.
