From Our Principal

Last week, LBMS implemented a new bell schedule which provides all students a 22 minute intervention period at the end of the day.  We are so happy to report that this is already proving to be very successful!  Students and staff both love the ability to see any student or teacher they need to on any day for additional assistance!

First quarter ends on October 26th which is just two weeks from Thursday! Students and teachers are working hard to make sure the quarter wraps up successfully!  As you check your student's grades on PowerSchool, please do not hesitate to be in touch with teachers, guidance counselors or administrators if you have any questions or would like input as to your student's progress as we finish this quarter!  The more we all work together, the better!

There is a lot going on at LBMS!  Here are a few things that I wanted to make you aware of:
  • There is NO SCHOOL for students this Thursday, October 12th and Friday, October 13th.  October 12th is a Staff Professional Development Day and Friday, October 13th is NEOEA Day.  Enjoy the long weekend!
  • Girls Basketball Tryouts are scheduled for October 16th and October 17th here at LBMS.  7th grade tryouts are from 4:00pm-5:30pm and 8th grade tryouts are from 5:30pm-7:00pm.

  • On September 5th, the entire student body heard a presentation entitled "Start with Hello" from the Sandy Hook Promise Foundation.  On Monday, October 16th, students will have team assemblies for the second part of this series.  This presentation is entitled "Say Something".  If you'd like more information on this series, please visit http://www.sandyhookpromise.org/.  A huge thank you to our Student Council for organizing this!
  • Attention any student interested in ski and snowboard club this year...There is a mandatory meeting on Sunday, Oct. 22nd at 2:30 at the BOE in the Parkside Auditorium.  Interested students AND a parent MUST attend. See the school website under "clubs" for the ski and snowboard club page for additional information.
  • There is a Washington, D.C. parent information meeting on Tuesday, October 17th at 6:30pm here at LBMS.  At this meeting, you will be given the finalized itinerary, cost, payment schedule, and important information regarding the trip.  Our tour guides from Nowak Tours will be here to answer any questions as well.  Please plan on attending!
I hope everyone has a great week!  As always, please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions, comments, or concerns!
