MP Profile
Meet Ellen Criswell.
She is married to Lee, and they have two daughters, Alayna (12th grade) and Emilee (8th grade). Mrs. Criswell is an instructional paraprofessional with our Access program, and has worked at MP for 8 years. When asked what she likes most about her job, she said "My students bring so much joy and laughter to my life, and my coworkers are like family." She enjoys decorating and making crafts. She also enjoys swimming and playing with her little dog, Ellie. If she could go back in time she would like to go back to the 1900s "because things were so much simpler then and I love old farm houses from that era." If she did not have to sleep, she would use the extra time to travel and craft. When people come to her for help, they usually come for family and relationship advice. "My relationship with Jesus and my grandmother have influenced my life the most." She said that nothing keeps her up at night because she has to have her sleep. She has a degree in nursing, and her first passion was working with the elderly. She took this job because she wanted to be with her daughters more, and "in doing that I found my second passion, working with students with disabilities. I truly love what I get to do everyday!

A Thank You from Anchor of Hope
The Anchor of Hope Foundation celebrated it's 10th anniversary by hosting the Celebration of Hope banquet on Thursday, November 9th. The Best Buddies club of Mary Persons had 18 members volunteer their time to ensure the event was a success.
The leadership team of Anchor of Hope has expressed their immense gratitude to Elizabeth Holloway and her club members. Overheard at the dinner: "the student volunteers are kind, welcoming, professional and made sure guests are taken care of from the time they walk into the room." Way to shine in the community and be a CHAMP!

Bulldog Blessings
Adopt-A-Senior 2018 is a new program sponsored by the Bulldog Blessings.
Senior year is expensive, and we're asking our local organizations, groups and citizens to chip in and adopt some of our seniors who are in need of support. Our goal is that ALL MP Grads experience the full memory of their senior year and don't have to skip out on any activities due to cost.

MP Cinch Bags Fundraiser for Bulldog Blessings
The counseling department is selling MP Cinch Bags for $10 as a fundraiser for our Bulldog Blessings fund. All of the proceeds will go directly to our neediest students allowing us to purchase school supplies, toiletries, blankets, coats, technical college application fees, special school events, etc.
Creations by CHAMP can add a name for an additional $5.00.

ACT & SAT Information
Students who are planning to attend a four year college, must take the SAT or ACT and obtain qualifying score. Mary Persons
is a testing site for BOTH tests. We are able to provide waivers only to juniors or seniors who participate in the free/reduced lunch program. Eligible students can see their counselor or Mrs. Miller to receive fee waivers.
SAT Registration: Go to www.collegeboard.org to register for the SAT. You must have a waiver code or credit/debit card to register. Cost without a waiver is $46.00 (no writing) or $60.00 with writing.
ACT Registration: Go to www.actstudent.org to register for the ACT. You must have a waiver code or credit/debit card to register. Cost without a waiver is $42.50 (no writing) or $58.50 with writing.

Attention Seniors
The FAFSA® is the application that students must complete to apply for federal student aid, which can be used to attend an eligible college or career school. Federal student aid includes Federal Pell Grants, federal student loans, and work-study opportunities. In addition to determining eligibility for federal student aid, many states, private organizations, colleges, and career schools rely on information from the FAFSA to determine eligibility for nonfederal sources of aid.
ALL students must complete this form regardless of parent income. The 2018 FAFSA application is now open.

The Art Club is hosting the 3rd annual Empty Bowls Dinner fundraiser on
Thursday, November 16th from 5:30-7:30
in the Fine Arts Center. Tickets are $15, and go on sale Monday, October 30th.
Come share a soup dinner with us and take home a student-made ceramic bowl. All proceeds benefit Monroe Co. Backpack Buddies.
