Community Newsletter
November, 2017
Keeping you up to date on the many ways Beverly Bootstraps provides critical resources to families and individuals so they may achieve self-sufficiency.
This is where community happens.

Helping people remains Beverly Bootstraps' top priority in this ever-changing world. Higher rental prices and stagnant wages continue to put pressure on our clients' budgets. Potential changes to federal support programs such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and Low Income Heat and Energy Program (LIHEAP) and the Affordable Care Act (ACA) health insurance creates uncertainty in predicting the level of client need in the coming year.

Our own stats show that the need is real and continues to grow.  The number of individuals we serve has increased 29% over the last 6 years. And t he number of visits to our Food Pantry has increased by an average of 70 per month from last year at this time.

In this time of uncertainty, we  hope that you will help us continue to support our community by supporting Beverly Bootstraps.

Exciting news

Year round Mobile Market at Senior Center starting soon!
In the near future, Beverly Bootstraps will be holding its Mobile Market to  provide all senior citizens  at the Senior Center in Beverly with a small selection of produce items and senior friendly non-perishables  items.  Because so many seniors live on a fixed income, they often can't afford the fresh fruits and vegetables so important to a balanced, nutritious diet. So we will start providing them with this important produce for free. More details will follow on start date and schedule.

Thank you to the North Shore Community Health Network for providing the funding to make this program possible.

How you can help

Volunteers needed at the Thrift Shop
The constant flow of donations makes the Thrift Shop a busy and exciting place to volunteer. Most volunteers find their own niche at the shop, be it sorting clothes, displaying items, marking housewares or keeping the shop appearance appealing to our customers. The jobs at the shop can vary from moment to moment. If you or someone you know enjoys a fast paced, fun environment, the Thrift Shop could be perfect. There are daytime, evening and weekend hours available. Please contact [email protected] for more information.

The Paper Store's annual Gift of Giving

All who participated in Thanksgiving Food Drives
Thank you to everyone in this community who participated in the Community Wide and Election Day Food Drives - the Citywide PTO, Shaw's and Stop & Shop, our volunteers, and all who brought food donations. We couldn't provide Thanksgiving meal ingredients to our clients without your support!

Brace Cove Foundation Grant
Thank you to the Brace Cove Foundation for their recent grant to support our Thanksgiving Food Program.
Gillette Donates Toiletries
We recently received a donation from Gillette of 25 bags filled with full sized personal care items. Toiletries are not covered by SNAP benefits, so we are always happy to be able to provide them to our clients. Thank you also to the United Way of Mass Bay and for setting this up!
