Artist Joy Kreves creates works that, as she describes it, "explore human-earth-universe interconnectedness." For several years, she has also participated in the Global Earth Exchange, making creative acts of beauty in the form of RadJoy Birds for the land and water near her home in Ewing, New Jersey.
Recently, for "Flying Dreams", a mixed media art class she taught, Joy asked students to choose a photograph of a wounded place and create a bird over it using found materials. One work of art is above; to see others, click here.
The results are enchanting and exemplify yet another way in which we can create beauty for the places we love. Imagine people from many places making acts of beauty
for the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, for the island of Puerto Rico, for refugee camps. Thank you, Joy and students, for widening our net.
