Annual Appeal

RSVP Volunteers Helping Puerto Rico

Friends RSVP volunteers were representing Senior Corp when they jumped in to answer the call for aid at the NH Response to Help Puerto Rico at the State House in early October.

Bead It! Fundraiser

Youth Mentoring Orientations

Make a difference in the life of a Merrimack County young person and be a mentor. The first step is attending an orientation that will introduce you to our program and outline what's involved. 

Upcoming orientation:
Tuesday, November 14th
Wednesday, December 6th
Tuesday, January 23rd

Orientations are from 4:30-7pm at the Friends Program office, 202 North State Street, Concord.

Step up and step in to help a needy child.

Annual 
Celebration

Friends Program Trustees, staff, and supporters came together on Thursday, October 5th to recognize the efforts of some remarkable volunteers. The gathering also gave the Friends Board of Trustees the chance to present this years 10th Annual James S. Doremus Award to Steven Arndt.

In selecting the honorees, program staff chose volunteers who are emblematic of what the Friends' Four Programs represent. "Volunteers are the essence of our organization," said Friends Board of Trustees Vice President, Catherine Devaney. 

Among those honored at the event was Emergency Housing Program volunteer Marcy Charette, Foster Grandparent Program Community Partner Belmont Elementary School, RSVP Program volunteer Ralph Appleby, and Youth Mentoring Program volunteer George Smith.

Lone Wolfe Cruisers Car Club continued their amazing support of the Friends Program by donating $500 to the Youth Mentoring Program. 


Meredith Village Savings Bank
, Merrimack County Savings Bank , Millriver Wealth Management , NH Mutual Bancorp raised $465 for the Youth Mentoring Program through Jeans Day, where a donation allows employees to wear jeans to work for the day.
 
Lincoln Financial organized a professional clothing drive for their NH employees, with donations benefiting our Emergency Housing and  Foster Grandparent Programs.  This picture represents some of what was collected.

Welcome to the Friends Program

Please welcome Lily Wellington  as our new Foster Grandparent Program Coordinator. Lily has a background in psychology and mental health and has been volunteering in public schools for the last five years. She hopes to put her passion for connecting with people to good use in her new role and looks forward to working with volunteers in this capacity. 

Please welcome Celia Chase to the Board of Trustees.  Celia is Vice President of Marketing at OrionX Consulting focused on the technology industry. She served as Chair of HEAR in New Hampshire, has been a Board member Child and Family Services as well as the Junior Service League, and is a 2017 graduate of Leadership of Greater Concord. She has lived in Concord with her family since 1996.

Halloween Fun!

Youth Mentoring and Emergency Housing got into the spirit of the season and had lots of fun!

Youth Mentoring Coordinator, Maureen Desmond, gives tips to the pumpkin decorating crowd.  Our volunteers and their mentees enjoyed the evening very much! 
 
We extend thanks to Rossview Farms for large variety of festive pumpkins.

We had some excited superheros and ghouls  at our family  shelter enjoy trick-o-treating and the candy that followed.
