PRESENTATION

Laura Talmus, Executive Director/Co-Founder

Laura Talmus founded Beyond Differences with her husband, Averell "Ace" Smith, following the unexpected death of their daughter, Lili Rachel Smith, born in October 2009. Laura  is passionate about bringing awareness to the issue of adolescent social isolation and brings to Beyond Differences her thirty-five years' experience in running, and consulting for, non-profit organizations. Ace and Laura have a 27-year old son, Abram. They live in Marin County.

Beyond Differences is a student-led social justice movement dedicated to ending social isolation for millions of middle school children who suffer every day from feeling left out and like they don't belong.

While many organizations focus on strategies for reacting to bullying after it happens, Beyond Differences works to prevent bullying before it starts by teaching students to become activists and change the culture of middle school.

She will be bringing two high school student leaders who you'll not want to miss!
