FROM ASB
National Honor Society Harvest Festival
The NHS Harvest Festival will be held at school on Friday, November 17th from 6:00 to 8:30 pm. There will be lots of food and fun, so please make sure to drop by! Also, please remember to bring $5 for a suggested donation. Hope to see you there!
YouthCare Fundraising Update
So far, ICS has raised $176 for our YouthCare fundraiser. ASB has had a mission this year, and "It Starts With You!" This means that every action we make as individuals impacts the greater community, which is why we, as a school, are donating to YouthCare. YouthCare is a non-profit local organization whose mission is to help end youth homelessness in Seattle. Our goal for this year is to raise $4000, along with other necessary items. If each ICS family donates $10, we can accomplish this goal. The fundraiser has already begun and will continue until the end of the school year. We cannot reach our goal just through family donations; we will also put on school events where the proceeds will go to YouthCare and will continue host other fundraisers throughout the school year.

If you are interested, please donate to YouthCare now at the following link.

IMPORTANT NOTE: please include in the Comments section, the note, "ICS fundraiser," so we can track our school's progress. Also, a reminder that donations are tax deductible and eligible for a company match. Bi-weekly updates will be posted on ICSASB social media and on the PTSA newsletter; progress will be continuously tracked on the thermometer on the ASB board. Thank you!
Key Club Food and Clothing Drive for Youth
Please donate non-perishable food items, gently used clothes, sleeping bags, new socks or underwear, or new toiletries. The items will be delivered to Youthcare, a Seattle organization that provides services to homeless youth. In addition to helping homeless teens with essential supplies and resources, you will also help your child's grade earn points for a pizza party. Each item has a point value assigned, and the grade with the most points will be awarded a
pizza party at the end of this month. There are bins placed in front of the office next to the lost and found, so please ask your child to place the items in the bin with their grade number on it. Please contact Mr. Plank with any questions. Thank you for your support!
VOLUNTEERING
Seeking Parent Volunteers for National Honor Society's Annual Harvest Festival
The National Honor Society is hosting its annual Harvest Festival on Friday, November 17th from 6:00 to 8:30 pm. Parent volunteers are needed to chaperone the event and bring various food items to the event in exchange for volunteer hours (1 food item brought = 1 volunteer hour). If you are in need of volunteer hours, this is an amazing opportunity to gain some volunteer time and help out in being part of a fun-filled, traditional ICS event!
Please use the following link to sign up to bring food items/utensils (which will need to be brought in by around 5:30 pm, approximately half an hour before the event starts)
Please contact [email protected] to volunteer as a chaperone or for additional details. Thank you!
Wanted: Pantry Packs Hunger Champion for ICS
Did you know that the Pantry Packs program feeds more than 800 students in need within the district each weekend? The Lake Washington Schools Foundation and Feed Washington need help raising funds and coordinating outreach at ICS. They have a campaign coming up and need coordinators in each school. LWSF will supply the necessary info and a flyer; they just need someone to help support things on behalf of ICS. If you'd be interested in being a Hunger Champion for ICS, send e-mail to [email protected], and we'll connect you with the Feed Washington campaign director.

Use the ICS Calendar to Connect
What's the best way to publicize an event to ICS parents and students? Putting it in the newsletter is a great start, but there's a second important step: Get the event on the ICS calendar! Just email the following details to [email protected]
  • What the event is
  • When and where it's happening
  • Whom the event is for
Please note the event must be organized by the school, the district, the ICS PTSA or Washington State PTA, the ICS ASB, or PTSA/ASB-affiliated clubs and committees for inclusion on the ICS calendar.
