Chanukah Play Breakout
We had an amazing Chanukah Play breakout  on Monday afternoon as our Olympic Groups were challenged to do as many things as they could  in 3 minutes. The title of the play is "When the Clock Stopped". The theme and message of the play, is the value of time. The message really hit home as we saw how much we can accomplish in a very short time. Thank you to Grade 3 for giving us a preview of one of the songs from the play and to Eliezer Simcha for the technical support. Thank you so much once again to Morah Miller for producing such a meaningful opportunity for our school.
The Chanukah Concert will be in the newly renovated Akiva Gym on  Thursday December 14th at 6:30 PM. All students will be performing.  Please let the office know as soon as possible if your child(ren) will not be able to attend.

Shabbos Project
Thank you so much to Mrs. Halpern for organizing a spectacular weekend of meaningful Shabbos Project activities. We were so inspired by the Challah Bake,Group Mock Shabbat Meal, Shabbat afternoon groups and the culmination of a beautiful wekend with a Melava Malka Kumzitz at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Laibie and Eleanor Doctor. Thank you so much to Rabbi and DD Safren for singing and playing, to Mia Ruby Bassin for a beautiful Dvar Torah, to Hanit Jacobs and the PTA for all their help, to Rabbi Halpern for sharing stories and songs at Seaudah Shlishit, to the Greenwald and Halpern families for hosting  groups in their homes on Shabbat and to everyone who attended to make these events so meaningful and special.

Raising Your Child to be a Mench
Thank you so much to Dr. David Pelcovitz  for coming to visit our school and for the several talks he gave in his short visit here. We had meaningful talks with parents in the morning, teachers at lunch time, and for the community in the evening. Thank you to everyone who came out in the inclement weather. For those who were not able to make it, we hope to post video and audio of his talks on our website in the near future.

Thank you so much to CHW Haddasah WIZO for sponsoring his visit. Thank you to all those who donated to the Chanukah Toy Drive. If you would like to donate but did not have a chance, there will be collection boxes at the Jewish Film Festival and the JCC for the next few weeks.

Grade 1 and 5 Learn about Zones of Regulation
This week for Health, the grade one and five students had the opportunity to work in collaboration with each other as buddies to learn about the Zones of Regulation. This buddy system is meant to give the grade five's an opportunity to demonstrate leadership and allows for potential role models for the grade one students. Miss. Thiessen and Ms. Waseem created a lesson plan to help motivate the students to self-regulate themselves while at school. The students worked very well together and benefited from this buddy system. They had a lot of fun creating their own posters and skits, as well as using coloured blocks to regulate themselves throughout the day.
