Issue: # 129
September 2017
Hello, YPT family. September started off with a bang! A successful Silence Is Violence: LGBTQ+ You, plus new partnerships and opportunities!

Young Playwrights' Workshop Begins!

Wednesday, October 4, at 4:15pm
Young Playwrights' Theater
2437 15th Street, NW
3rd Floor

The Young Playwrights' Workshop is YPT's award-winning student theater ensemble. Members work together to create, develop, rehearse and perform an original play. A professional teaching artist helps the ensemble develop a foundation of theater skills including improvisation, stage combat, clowning, solo performance and playwriting.  Each year, the Workshop concludes with
a student  performance open to the public!

Young people currently in the 8th grade and up are eligible to enroll. If you are a young person interested in writing, drama, performance and fun, come to the first Young Playwrights' Workshop session on  Wednesday, October 4, at 4:15 pm to join. This program is FREE!

News and Notes

Silence Is Violence: LGBTQ+ You was amazing!

YPT would like to thank everyone who attended and all of the artists, actors and staff involved in making
Silence Is Violence: LGBTQ+ You a success. Together, we celebrated the voices of LGBTQ+ youth and adult writers and artists, with performances by Asha "Boomclak" Santee, j. scales, Lady Dane Figueroa Edidi and Xemiyulu Manibusan, appearances by Rayceen Pendarvis and Scott

YPT welcomes Claudia Rosales Waters to the team.

Claudia has been a teaching artist for ten years in classrooms across Atlanta, New York and Washington D.C. She achieved her Master of Fine Arts in Performance degree from the University of Maryland in 2013.
