Pro-Assistant Championship Rescheduled at Colorado Golf Club

Due to inclement weather on Monday, Sept. 25, the Pro-Assistant Championship scheduled at the Hiwan Golf Club has been rescheduled for Monday, October 30, 2017, at Colorado Golf Club. 

Due to the time of year, the HARD DEADLINE to register for the event is Friday, October 20, 2017.

Voska Repeats as Match Play Champion!

Kyle Voska, PGA Instructor at The Links Golf Course in Highlands Ranch, CO won the Colorado PGA Match Play Championship for the second year in a row on Wednesday. Voska defeated Geoff Keffer 1-up in the Championship match at The Club at Ravenna. Blake Sharamitaro, PGA Assistant Professional at Riverdale Golf Course defeated Caine Fitzgerald, PGA Assistant Professional at Meadow Hills Golf Course in the consolation match to claim third place.

Senior Professional Championship Begins Today with 10 Coloradans in the Field

The 29th Senior PGA Professional Championship tees off today at Desert Mountain Club in Scottsdale, Arizona. Golfers from Colorado include Rick Cole, Eaton Country Club; Bill Hancock, Littleton Golf and Tennis Club; Don Hurter, Castle Pines Golf Club; Chris Johnson, PGA Member; Bill Loeffler, The Links Golf Course; Barry Milstead, Valley Country Club; Mike Northern, PGA Member; Doug Rohrbaugh, Ironbridge Golf Club; Ron Vlosich, PGA Member; and Michael Zaremba, Desert Hawk at Pueblo West.

Last Chance to Register for the Las Vegas Pro-Am!
Deadline to Register is Sunday, October 1, 2017

Registration is open for the 2017 National Car Rental Las Vegas Pro-Am presented by Colorado Golf and Turf! The event will be played Monday-Wednesday, November 13-15, 2017, at the Paiute Golf Resort. Entry into the event includes a two night stay at Treasure Island Hotel and Casino, transportation to and from the golf course daily, breakfast prior to each round of the event and more fun games and contests than ever before!

The entry fee is $3,900 per team ($975 per amateur). This event utilizes a 5-person team -- 4 amateurs and 1 professional.

Celebrate the Colorado Award Winners on Oct. 27

The 2017 Colorado Section Award Winners represent an exceptional group of PGA Professionals. Join them at the Awards Banquet to honor their service to the Section and to the game of golf. 

The Gala is being held on Friday, October 27, at the Colorado Golf Club in Parker. Cocktails begin at 5:30 followed by dinner. The program will start at 7:30 p.m.

Final JGAC Fall Event Held in Tough Conditions

On Sunday, medalists were named at the final JGAC Fall Series event of the season. This weekend, Kings Deer Golf Club played host to nearly 100 JGAC members. Players fought through some very tough conditions to post some great finishes.

American Golf Sees a Resurgence of Youth

A few generations before Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas were even born, Ford Motor Co. put together a group of golfers known as the "Young Thunderbirds" to promote the rising stars on the PGA Tour.
 
"We played a lot of practice rounds together," said Johnny Miller, part of that group. What caused Miller to think back to the early 1970s was what he saw at the Tour Championship, and what he will see this week at the Presidents Cup - Young players. 
Wally Uihlein Set to Retire from Acushnet on Jan. 1, 2018

Acushnet Holdings Corp., the parent company of Titleist and FootJoy, announced Monday that Wally Uihlein, the company's president and CEO, will retire Jan. 1, 2018.

A 41-year veteran of Titleist, Uihlein, 68, will be succeeded by chief operating officer David Maher, 49.

Last Day to Register for RMGSA Fall Merchandise Show


The Rocky Mountain Golf Sales Association will be holding its 2017 RMGSA Golf Merchandise Show on Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct. 10-11. The registration deadline today, is Sept. 28, 2017. Participants will receive two (2) MSR points for attending.

Park Hill Golf Course to be Sold to the City of Denver

The Park Hill Golf Course will close at the end of 2018 so the landlord of the property can use the space to generate more money and find a better use of the land for the community, Clayton Early Learning announced Thursday.
Fitzsimons Golf Course in Aurora May Close by End of 2017
 
This is not the first time rumors have spread about the looming end of Fitzsimons Golf Course. But the almost centenarian course appears to finally be nearing its close. While neither officials with Aurora Golf nor the Fitzsimons Redevelopment Authority would confirm a date, the golf course is expected to close by the end of the year.
 
There are no immediate development plans for the property, but the area is zoned for multi-use construction, and development could tie into the adjacent University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus.
