TSWRJ High Holiday Food Drive for the Capital Area Food Bank
Donate Through October 15
The results are in from the Capital Area Food Bank. After another successful High Holiday food drive coordinated by the TSWRJ, we collected 3,758 pounds of food at the Temple and 1,670 pounds at BCC High School, for a total of 5,428 pounds!  That is a total of 4,523 meals for our food-insecure neighbors!  Thank you for your support of this wonderful, important cause!

There is still time to participate in the food drive! The CAFB collection box will remain in the front lobby of the Temple for additional donations through Sunday, October 15.  Please bring in your donations of healthy, non-perishable food before the food drive ends on October 15.

A Taste of Talmud
Begins Thursday, October 19 at 10 AM
Rabbi Fred N. Reiner will teach this series on Talmud. After a brief introduction to Mishnah and Talmud, we will focus on four Talmudic texts, in English translation. We will explore how these primary Jewish sources are structured, how the arguments are developed, and how other ideas are brought into the discussion. In exploring four very different text topics, we will discover how the Talmud deals with commercial, practical, ethical, and ritual issues.  Learn more & register.
Shabbat Service Featuring Dedication of our New Piano followed by a Community Dinner
Friday, October 20 at 6:30 PM
Join us as we celebrate Shabbat, enhanced by the exquisite music of the Steinway full concert grand piano now residing in our sanctuary. Just prior to the High Holy Days, our congregant Janet Shatz Snyder generously donated this exceptional instrument, in memory of her husband, Daniel C. Snyder (z"l).  Dan was an accomplished pianist with a passion for music, whose wish was for Temple Sinai to have one of his two beloved Steinways. If you attended any of the High Holy Day services in the sanctuary, you heard the piano played by our gifted accompanist, Neil Weston. At this Shabbat service of dedication we will officially consecrate the piano, as well as highlight the exquisite tone and sensitive expression of this fine instrument. The service will be followed by a catered community dinner. RSVP for dinner.
