Growing in Grace & Peace
Peace---St. Francis of Assisi---Volunteer Week B
Dear St. Isidore Families,

Lately it feels like people across the world are suffering one tragedy after another. As Christians, the natural response to a tragedy is to feel compassion for the victims and their families. That compassion leads us to pray on their behalf. It is an experience of charity, first “charity” as the virtue of love and then “charity” in the form of donations if helpful. However we respond, it must always come from a place of compassion. Compassion means literally to suffer with someone.  We pray today and always for the suffering.  Our support for our neighboring fire victims will start tomorrow with a free dress. Student may wear free dress tomorrow for donations that will go to fire victims. If you are planning on doing picture retakes, please come in uniform. The agencies we have reached out to have expressed an immediate need for money and gift cards. The office will be accepting both through the week. We will be planning other support when we have a better idea of what things are needed, especially for other schools that have been affected.

We have been monitoring the air quality from the North bay fires and taking the following precautions:
  • Outdoor recess, PE and other activities have been brought inside.
  • Kids Konnection students will remain indoors until a parent arrives.
  • Lunches have been moved inside.
  • Windows and doors have been kept shut.
  • Faculty and staff have been extra mindful of all who may be sensitive to the air quality.
We will continue to monitor the situation, make adjustments and update you as needed.

Conference Thank You : A big thank you to all teachers, parents, and students who attended conferences last week. It was evident that student success is a priority to everyone on this campus. It is awesome that we are working together to ensure that it happens.

Dismissal Change : San Ramon Valley High School’s homecoming parade will take place downtown this Friday, October 13 th .  Therefore, we will have a 1:50 dismissal. This parade causes extreme traffic jams so we will dismiss early and ask that parents walk in to collect their children from their classrooms. We will also have another no carpool Friday on October 27 th . We will dismiss from the classrooms at 2:50. We are doing this because it is Red Ribbon week and we will be in the Cardelli Gym, and it is more organized to return to classes and dismiss from there.

Disaster Drill : Our Bi-Annual Emergency Disaster Drill will take place Wednesday, October 25 th at 12:45pm. Students should wear their uniforms or uniform tops with jeans, bring a bottle of water, an SSR book, and wear sunscreen and a hat or sunglasses. They are also allowed to bring in a deck of cards.

The drill will start at 12:45pm. We realize that in a real emergency people will come to school as soon as they can get here, however for practical reasons we will release
students in the following order:

          12:45           T – Z
         1:15             N – S
         1:45             H – M
         2:15             A – G

All student not picked up by 2:45 will be escorted to Kids Konnection. Remember – photo identification is required!

Halloween Reminders : Halloween is on a Tuesday this year and there will be a noon dismissal. The annual Halloween parade will begin at approximately at 11:15 AM. Students will go back to their classrooms and be dismissed from there. Please remember that Halloween is a time of fun for all.  Costumes should be modest and not too scary, and no weapons. The costume must allow the child to function as a student while in class. Please remember to go light on the face paint and that masks may be worn during the parade only. We want to be able to recognize all of our students to help ensure safety for all.  Kids Konnection will close at noon on Halloween.

Wednesday, November 1 st is All Saints Day . Since this is the day following Halloween, we will start school at 9:00 AM and adjust schedules accordingly. We will celebrate Mass together as a school at 12:10 PM. Please join us if you are able to do so.

Sincerely,

Maria Ward, Principal
St. Isidore School

Volunteer Opportunities
Please click on the link below to take a look at volunteer opportunities for this school year. It truly takes a village to make all of our events occur and run smoothly. Thank you in advance for your consideration in signing up to help with one of our amazing fundraisers!

YARD DUTY!

Volunteer for yard duty and show our teachers your appreciation for all they do by volunteering once a month for 1 hour.

With your support our teaching assistants who typically watch our children during lunch recess will get to have lunch with their counterparts once a month.
Show our children how volunteering at school affects those around them firsthand. By volunteering for yard duty you can show our students that small acts of service can make a big difference to those in our school community. In order for this to be a success and safe for our students we need at least 3 parent volunteers per grade.
Please help us make this happen and support our wonderful teaching staff!

‘Twas the Night Before Book Fair

It’s beginning to look a lot like Book Fair! Come see for yourself and BELIEVE! Our family event, the North Pole Express , takes place on Friday, November 3 rd from 3-5 pm. There will be no PM carpool that afternoon, as the cars make the reindeer a bit grumpy.

The Polar Express is also a jolly time to purchase books for the classroom libraries! Oh how merry the teachers get when they receive books. After all, the gift of reading lasts forever…

There’s ‘snowbody’ like St. Isidore parents who are the best at donating their time, talents, and treasures to help out at our school! Please Click Here to go to SignUpGenius to see all the merry opportunities!
