Dana Hendrickson
Director: Outreach and Advocacy
Maryland Dept. of Veterans Affairs
Born and raised in Annapolis, Maryland, Ms. Hendrickson began her service to the Maryland Department of Veterans Affairs as the Director of Outreach and Advocacy in October 2013. In her role she oversees public relations and communications for the Department. Ms. Hendrickson is responsible for graphic design, web and social media management, and for representing the Administration and Department at community events. Dana currently serves on the Governor's Commission on Suicide Prevention where she chairs the service member, veteran, and military family task force and the Maryland Interagency Council on Homelessness where she chairs the veterans work group.
Ms. Hendrickson's diverse
human services background spans over 20 years and includes child protective services investigations, adult correctional case management and veteran behavioral health resource coordination. She has a rich history in training, having served as a certified instructor and field training officer at the Anne Arundel County Department of Detention Facilities and adjunct professor at Baltimore City Community College.
Dana received her bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Delaware and her master's degree in Psychology from Towson University. She completed Towson University's Center for Professional Studies Certified Associate in Program Management Program in 2014. Dana is the granddaughter and great niece to three WWII U.S. Army Veterans and the proud mother of two sons.
