This Sunday at Christ Church
Faith & Practice
Come learn more about the powerful work of St. Leonard's Ministries, in a conversation led by Christ Church parishioners Erwin Mayer and Carmen Wilcox. Christ Church's relationship with St. Leonard's and Grace House is deep and rich; could there be a role for you?

St. Leonard's Ministries empowers formerly incarcerated men and women to overcome traumas endured both inside and out of prison, and address barriers to health, housing, and employment. With the support of holistic services including housing, mental and physical health care, education, employment and life skills training, our program participants achieve successful re-entry and work to improve critical areas of their lives. St. Leonard's serves 400+ men and women from across Chicago each year through five key programs: St. Leonard's House and Grace House (men's and women's emergency housing), St. Andrew's Court and Harvest Commons (permanent supportive housing), and the Barlow Center for Education and Employment.

Opportunities to Serve

It's Time to Sign Up as a Family Promise Volunteer October 22-29
Christ Church is getting ready to host a new group of transitionally homeless families in Church House the week of October 22-29 - and we need lots of help!

This has has become one of Christ Church's most important outreach ministries. By providing these families a safe place to sleep, healthy meals, hospitality and fellowship, we play a critical role in keeping them out of shelters while they work with Family Promise to create a pathway to permanent self-sufficiency and stability.
We need volunteers of all ages to help with:
  • Setup and Cleanup
  • Evening Meals
  • Evening Activities
  • Overnight Hosting
  • Fellowship and Hospitality
If you have questions, please email Elizabeth Parkinson at [email protected] or Julie Flood at [email protected].

Grace House Residents Perform "The Power of Grace!"
You are invited to attend the Opening Night of "The Power of Grace!" November 1 at 7PM at the Church on the Hill. A reception will follow the
performance.

In conjunction with Stillpoint Theatre Collective, the women of Grace House have created a powerful and compelling theatrical experience - "The Power of Grace!"
Told in poetry, rap and chorus, "The Power of Grace!" tells of their lives and struggles, and the transformation they have experienced leaving the prison system.

Grace House, a program of St. Leonard's Ministries, is an important ministry of Christ Church and our Mentoring Group, led by Carmen Wilcox and Nadia Stefko.

This is an adult/late teen production and is not suitable for children. While the production is not overly coarse, some of the language and situations described are intended for mature audiences.

To order tickets, go to brownpapertickets.com, (800-838-3006) or order tickets for "will call" the night of the performance by contacting Carmen Wilcox, [email protected], or 847-471-3501. Tickets are $10 each and $25 for a family.

If you are unable to attend and wish to make a donation, please send a check made payable to Christ Church and mark "Grace House" on the memo line.
