Second TRIM Hearing TODAY, Wednesday, September 27
The Children’s Trust’s first rescheduled TRIM hearing was successfully held on Monday, September 18. The second, legally required public hearing to approve The Trust’s fiscal year 2017-18 budget and millage rate will now take place
today, Wednesday, September 27
, at 5:01 p.m. in the United Way Ryder Room.

Summer Data Submission: Deadline Extended Until TODAY
Please ensure that all summer demographic, attendance and outcome data is up-to-date and submitted by this evening,
Wednesday, September 27
. The Children’s Trust has allowed for an additional eight business days to accommodate any delays due to Hurricane Irma. We will pull program data for annual end-of-year reviews tomorrow morning, September 28, for summer camps (YAS), youth enrichment summer programs (YEN with May 1 start dates only) and early childhood summer programs (EEI).

FREE All Kids Included Workshop: Inclusive Practices in the Arts
The Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs announces Inclusive Practices in the Arts, a FREE All Kids Included professional development workshop happening on Tuesday, October 3, 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts. Presented in partnership with VSA Florida and the Miami-Dade County Public Schools Department of Exceptional Student Education, this workshop is designed to provide a hands-on approach to learning about adaptive techniques for including every learner, together with the knowledge of universal design. Participants will gain practical skills on how to use the arts to inspire learning in the classroom and clinical settings, and to include students with disabilities in mainstream programs. Financial Relief for People Left Unemployed After Irma
Federal disaster unemployment assistance is available to workers and the self-employed affected by Hurricane Irma. To qualify, your work must have been lost or interrupted by the storm resulting in your inability to work or perform services because of physical damage or destruction to your place of employment. Those approved for disaster unemployment will receive up to $275 a week, according to Florida’s Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO). The application deadline is October 14. Sandy Hook Promise: National Say Something Week - October 16-20
Say Something teaches students how to look for warning signs, signals and threats - especially in social media - from individuals who may want to hurt themselves or others, and to say something to a trusted adult to get them help. The upcoming Say Something Week raises awareness and educates students and the community through training, media events, advertising, public proclamations, contests and school awards on how to say something if they believe a friend or peer is thinking about hurting themselves or someone else. When it comes to violence, suicide and threats, most are known by at least one other individual before the incident takes place. Say Something Week reinforces the power young people have to prevent tragedies and say something to a trusted adult to protect a friend from hurting them self or others.
