Maffei Landscape Contractors, based in Mashpee, announced that it has partnered with Chenmark Capital Management, LLC, a family investment firm based in Portland, Maine. Company Founder and CEO Robert Maffei, who began Maffei Landscape while in high school in 1991, will remain CEO. Read more here.

The company has diverse business lines: There is, of course, its traditional cranberry growing operation (A.D. The Law at Work: Update on FLSA Exempt Employee Salary Level

Previous Law At Work articles have addressed the expected increase in the salary level for exempt employees under the Fair Labor Standards Act, a federal law, that was to have gone into effect on December 1, 2016. Had it gone into effect, employers would have been required to pay exempt employees a salary, in order that they were classified and treated, legally, as exempt employees, of nearly double. However, before the intended effective date, a federal court judge in Texas entered an order, the impact of which was to halt the new salary level from being implemented . Read the full article here.
